I’m one of the first with the all-new Razer Blade 14, and this may be 2025’s best 14-inch gaming laptop

Of all Razer’s well-known gaming laptops, it seems their smallest model has been the top seller. By 2025, this popular choice will undergo a redesign along with significant hardware enhancements.

Graciously, Razer provided me with a preliminary version of their latest Razer Blade 14, allowing me to be among the initial few outside the company to handle it. Notably, I’ve recently reviewed the Razer Blade 16 (2025), and I find several shared traits in this smaller model.

You’ll need to hold off for my comprehensive review with the final hardware for a thorough analysis of its performance, battery life, and other aspects. However, I can share my preliminary thoughts following several hours of using the latest Razer Blade 14 (2025).

This practical demonstration was made feasible through a pre-release sample graciously supplied by Razer. Razer played no role in its creation and remained unaware of the content of this article prior to its release.

What should I know about the all-new Blade 14?

Amongst the Razer family of gaming laptops, the Razer Blade 14 stands out as the smallest model. It has earned considerable popularity, with fans appreciating it so much that Razer provides it in various color options.

For quite some time now, the Blade 14 has been relying on AMD for its computational power, unlike the newer Blade 16 which switched from Intel to AMD not long ago.

It’s not unexpected that the new Blade 14 is equipped with the most recent AMD Ryzen AI chipsets, making it the pioneering 14-inch AI PC from Razer. Beyond that, this device offers a comprehensive Copilot+ experience, fully equipped with all the latest AI features incorporated into Windows 11.

Absolutely, the Blade 14 comes equipped with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards, delivering a significant improvement in performance compared to its predecessors.

Although it may not be the most potent gaming laptop out there, the Razer Blade 14 offers a substantial amount of power with an emphasis on compact portability. If you’re intrigued by this combination, the Razer Blade 14 can now be purchased starting at $2,299.99 directly from Razer.

What is it like to unbox the new Blade 14?

Since the Razer Blade 14 you received isn’t the final version, the box it came in might not reflect the complete product. However, when opening your own Razer Blade 14, you can anticipate a comparable unboxing experience.

Razer chooses to package the laptop in a compact, eco-friendly box crafted solely from sustainable or reused resources. Despite being unremarkable, they highlight the Blade 14 as the main focus.

In a distinct, compact package, you’ll discover the exclusive Razer charger boasting a 200W power output this time around. This means quick charging is supported, but if you’re in a bind, standard USB Type-C chargers (up to 100W) can also be used for charging purposes.

As a bonus, Razer offers a standard 2-year warranty for every Blade 14 battery.

Is the Razer Blade 14 really redesigned for 2025?

Razer maintains a uniform design aesthetic throughout its product lineup, and the Razer Blade laptops exemplify this consistency. A glance at our review of the Razer Blade 14 (2024) might lead one to believe that it represents only minor yearly upgrades in specifications.

Although the latest Razer Blade 14 may seem familiar, there’s a significant change, particularly under the hood. This transformation has enabled Razer to slim down the Blade 14 (from 15.9-16.2mm to 18mm, and from 1.78kg to 1.63kg), making it lighter and more compact (224mm versus 228mm) compared to last year’s model.

The majority of this improvement is largely due to the thoroughly revamped cooling hood, effectively maintaining even the most heat-sensitive components such as the CPU, GPU, and memory at a refreshingly cool temperature through a new thermal compound, an expansive vapor chamber, and two powerful fans.

Each Blade 14 model continues to be meticulously crafted using a single piece of top-tier aluminum via CNC milling, making it feel incredibly robust and finely built when held.

What are some of the best changes Razer made?

Despite being more compact in size, the new Razer Blade 14 has not skimped on any features. Instead, it comes with even more advantages.

This year, the Blade 14 upgraded its sound system from a quad setup to six speakers for enhanced and superior audio quality, including THX Spatial Audio compatibility.

The Blade 14 boasts a thoughtfully arranged variety of ports: On either side, you’ll find two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports and two USB Type-C 4.0 ports (equivalent to Thunderbolt 4), along with an HDMI 2.1 port, a standard 3.5mm audio jack, and a Kensington security slot for added protection.

This year, though, you also get a UHS-II microSD card slot.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that this year, the Razer Blade 14 has stepped into the realm of OLED technology. The previous 1600p, 240Hz IPS LCD panel has been swapped for an 1800p, 120Hz OLED screen. This refresh rate harmoniously aligns with the Blade 14’s performance prowess, and it also ushers in a significant leap in overall image quality.

I’m affirming that the screen appears stunningly beautiful, but I do have a preference for the display Razer offered last year as well.

How good is the performance or battery life?

Previously, I explained that Razer revamped the cooling system for the Blade 14. Similar to how they handled the Blade 16, this adjustment had a substantial impact on heat management.

Due to improvements, the latest Blade 14 model is expected to run more smoothly and swiftly than previous versions. However, since this isn’t a final version, I’m not allowed to perform benchmark tests. Similarly, Razer claims enhanced battery efficiency, potentially offering an extra hour of usage time overall. Yet, I can’t fully verify this claim either.

Previously, the revamped Blade 16 paved the way, and I’m optimistic that the Razer Blade 14 (2025) will follow suit in meeting expectations.

Is the Blade 14 better than the Zephyrus G14?

As a devoted fan, I hailed the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) as the undisputed ruler of 14-inch gaming laptops in my review. With ASUS planning to upgrade the Zephyrus G14 with comparable components as the Blade 14, I can’t help but wonder how these two powerhouses will measure up against each other.

In its latest redesign, the new Blade 14 has significantly reduced the differences it had before. Its thickness and weight are now comparable to that of the Zephyrus G14. Additionally, both models feature an OLED screen of similar specifications, and the Blade 14 offers a more diverse range of ports for increased connectivity options.

From a personal perspective, when comparing the two side by side, I find myself slightly preferring the Zephyrus G14 for its aesthetic appeal. However, this preference is based on my own subjective tastes and may not be shared by others.

As a tech aficionado, I’m confident that ASUS’ 14-inch powerhouse will deliver superior value compared to Razer’s equivalent, but what really stands out is the premium and polished feel of the early hardware – it surpasses the Zephyrus G14 in terms of refinement.

If Razer matches its competitors in terms of performance, battery life, and user experience, it will become significantly challenging to decide between these powerful contenders this year.

Should I buy the latest Razer Blade 14 laptop?

To return the prototype of the new Razer Blade 14 to them, get a finished model for a comprehensive evaluation, but I’m already greatly captivated by the brand new Razer Blade 14.

The Razer Blade 16 (2025) showcases a significant advancement from the previous year, and I have a similar impression about the Blade 14. It is slimmer, lighter, and boasts more features than its predecessor. However, it should also deliver better durability, heat management, and longer battery life.

Additionally, I’m fond of this silver hue too, but I can’t help but express my hope that we might revisit Razer’s distinctive “Quartz” pink shade for the Blade 14 model in the future. Regardless, it seems that Razer’s top-selling laptop is shaping up nicely for the year 2025.

Wait a few weeks for my review, but I’m eagerly looking forward to thoroughly examining the new Razer Blade 14 (and possibly comparing it with the new Zephyrus G14).
