Ina Garten Reveals She Was Once Offered Cocaine After Catering a Party

As a dedicated follower of Ina Garten‘s journey, I find her life story to be nothing short of captivating and inspiring. From catering to drug lords to shattering traditional roles and saving her marriage through therapy, Ina has shown an unparalleled resilience and determination that truly sets her apart.

Cash or card is just fine for Ina Garten.

In her recently published memoir titled “Be Ready When Good Fortune Strikes“, the renowned host of Barefoot Contessa reveals several surprising revelations, such as her response upon discovering that one of her catering orders originated from a drug lord residing on Long Island. She has also shared additional details about this startling incident.

Ina mentioned on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on October 30th, she recollected him saying, “He demanded, ‘We need all the caviar, smoked salmon, everything,’ – those high-end items that I could whip up.

The cherished cook told her team she’d provided them with guidelines to complete the order, yet upon arriving at the gathering, no food from the order appeared to have been consumed.

She exclaimed, “I felt dismayed, thinking, ‘Oh dear, it seems they dislike my cuisine.’ However, her staff, the waiters, reassured her, saying, ‘No, no, no, don’t fret. They are occupied in a private room at the moment.’ This left me bewildered, wondering, ‘What sort of event is this?!’

On the following day, when Ina, aged 76, went back to retrieve her serving dishes and receive payment, she mentioned that the client had proposed an unexpected gratuity.

She narrated, “He told me to return to the bedroom.” Surprised, I repeated, “Back to the bedroom?” But, foolishly, I followed him. Then, he asked, “Would you like some blow?” I was taken aback and responded, “Pardon me? Who’s paying for what here?” It was then that I understood he was referring to cocaine. I was utterly confused.

In the book, it’s clear that Ina isn’t shy about disclosing lesser-known parts of her life to her fans. Interestingly, the television personality, who tied the knot with Jeffrey Garten in 1968, also unveiled how the success of her specialty food store once threatened her marriage.

In her writing, she expressed that purchasing Barefoot Contessa challenged our conventional roles – it felt like smashing them with a baseball bat and leaving them in fragments. Despite continuing tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and managing the store, she did so not as a housewife, but as a businesswoman. Her responsibilities were so demanding that they left little room for considering anything else.

As Ina pondered about their shared path ahead, she proposed the idea of visiting a therapist as a team, aiming to surpass the conventional “husband and wife” role model. This step turned out to be the catalyst for positive change they had been seeking.

She noted, “Jeffrey’s decision to visit the therapist was just as crucial as any discussion they would have. He was so committed to demonstrating his sincerity in saving our marriage.
