The news of its December 9th release on Xbox and PC, with a timed exclusive for PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025, has sent shivers down my virtual spine.

View Urgent ForecastDuring Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle made its anticipated debut, bringing along some exciting updates for spectators: they revealed the game’s launch date and confirmed that there will be a PlayStation 5 version of the game. Bethesda and Xbox have announced that MachineGames’ new Indiana Jones title will hit shelves on December 9th, with early access varying based on the edition of the game you purchase. The PS5 release is indeed planned, but players won’t get their hands on it until Spring 2025, making it a timed exclusive for Xbox in the meantime.
The original version of the game is set to debut on December 9th, as confirmed by Xbox this week in a new trailer along with additional information about the game. It’s also worth mentioning that DLC is planned for the game, including “The Order of the Giants,” which will be available in both the Premium and Collector’s Edition versions of the game. Interestingly, these special editions will also grant early access to “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” which begins three days earlier on December 6th, preceding the main release date.
Regarding the release date for the PlayStation 5 game, it hasn’t been set yet but we can expect it to drop sometime in Spring 2025. Unlike some games such as Starfield, which are console exclusives on Xbox and also available on PC, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle falls under a category of games where Xbox is developing them through acquired companies, and its exclusivity is uncertain.
Microsoft, in the past, has mentioned that it decides on exclusives versus multi-platform games on a situation-by-situation basis. Previously, we’ve observed some older Xbox games appearing on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles after a while, but these ports were usually announced much later than the original game’s release date. However, in the case of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, it seems like this could be one of the first new Xbox games to have a time-limited exclusivity period for its PS5 version, with the timeline being set before the game is even released.
In addition to the Collector’s Edition and the extra content offered with more expensive game versions (DLC), the details revealed today also unveiled a cosmetic pack called The Last Crusade Set, along with a digital artbook, for those who preorder.
