Indiana Jones Fans Surprised With New Release Coming Next Week

Enthusiasts of Indiana Jones are in for a treat as a new addition to the series will drop next week. After a prolonged hiatus, the Indiana Jones franchise is experiencing a resurgence. In 2023, we saw the release of the film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Fast forward to 2024, another release came in the form of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a video game that has been hailed as one of the greatest Indiana Jones games ever made. Although Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny may not compete with the best Indiana Jones films, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the all-time greats like 1992’s Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and LEGO Indiana Jones.

2025 will see a delightful continuation for Indiana Jones enthusiasts, as they are in store for an exciting surprise at the start of the year. To be more precise, a fresh installment of their beloved franchise is slated for release on January 21st, promising to transport fans right back to 2009.

Starting January 21st, there will be some new titles added to the PlayStation Plus Premium library. Among these fresh additions, you’ll find the classic PS1 game Medievil II and the action-adventure title Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. For those not familiar, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings was developed by Artificial Mind & Movement (now known as Behaviour Interactive, creators of Dead by Daylight), and it was released for various platforms including Nintendo DS, PS2, PSP, and Wii in 2009.

2009’s Indiana Jones game might be remembered by some as falling short of expectations, garnering Metacritic scores ranging from 50 to 63, with differences in ratings depending on the gaming platform used. Notably, the recently announced release for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 via PS Plus Premium is actually the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

Starting from January 21, you’ll be able to obtain the PS2 classic without a PS Plus Premium subscription, either on your PS4 or PS5, directly through the PlayStation Store. While some PS Plus Premium releases might require a subscription, it’s usually the case that they are also made available for individual purchase.

In this latest edition, we’ve enhanced the old PS2 game by adding advanced upscaling, rewinding capabilities, quick save options, and personalized video filters for an improved gaming experience.
