Inside Kim Kardashian’s Paris Robbery Horror: Friend’s Chilling Testimony Reveals Untold Terror

It wasn’t just Kim Kardashian who was forever changed the night of the Paris robbery.

Back in 2016, when burglars illegally entered a hotel room belonging to a well-known Kardashian celebrity, they bound her up and stole numerous jewelry items estimated to be worth millions of dollars. At that time, Simone Harouche, the star’s stylist and longtime friend, was sleeping on the lower level of the suite’s duplex. Now, during her court testimony in Paris, Simone is discussing her accounts of that fateful night.

While fast asleep when the thieves broke into the hotel room, Simone claimed she was roused by the noise of Kim appealing to the burglars in a nearby location.

As young girls, we’ve always been friends,” the stylist clarified in court on May 13, as reported by NBC News. “Therefore, when I heard that unusual noise, it instantly roused me because it was a sound I had never heard from Kim before – it was pure terror.

Simone went on saying, “The essence of what I understood was, ‘I have dependents and I must survive. Provide me with whatever I require to live.’

Upon stirring from sleep and sensing the uproar, I—having chosen a new path as an interior designer after the harrowing incident of the burglary—secluded myself in the bathroom and reached out to Kourtney Kardashian and our family’s bodyguard for assistance. Following the departure of the robbers, Kim descended once more into the main part of the house.

In her statement, as reported by Reuters, Simone observed that the woman appeared extremely distressed, a state she had never seen her in before. She was shouting and repeatedly stated that they needed to leave immediately, sought help, and questioned what their plan would be if they returned.

According to NBC News, the 45-year-old observed that the robbery had a profound and lasting impact on Kim, transforming her daily existence significantly, as she now leads an entirely new way of life.

In response, Simone expressed that the robbery made her feel extremely anxious, mentioning she’s attended therapy sessions due to post-traumatic stress and is still easily startled by sudden sounds.

During Simone’s testimony, one of the accused, Aomar Ait Khedache (who, according to Reuters, denies being the mastermind of the robbers), requested the judge to convey a message to Simone.

As a lifestyle guide, I’d put it this way: “I won’t ask for your forgiveness, as it seems too simple given the complexity of my thoughts. Alas, I struggle to express myself. Understand, if there was an escape, I would take it.

Simone declined to share a response with Aomar.

Following the armed robbery that occurred on October 3, 2016, during the early hours in Paris, Kim Kardashian refrained from sharing personal content on her social media accounts until January of the following year. Notably, this hiatus coincided with the promotional period for the upcoming season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which premiered in March 2017 and included Kim’s initial comments regarding the incident.

During this temporary collaboration with Parisian officials, she decided to speak out publicly about her family’s lengthy TopMob television series for the first time.

In conversation with Kourtney Kardashian, who happened to be sharing a room with Kim during their trip but was absent during the robbery, and Khloe Kardashian, Kim reminisced about lying in bed, wrapped in a robe, as she contemplated whether to get up and wash her face while drifting off to sleep.

After that, she started hearing footsteps ascending the staircase towards her room. Assuming it was Kourtney and her friend returning tipsy, she shouted out.

At that instant when there was no response, Kim felt a strong sense of unease in her heart. It’s as if her stomach had tied itself into knots, leaving her wondering, ‘What’s happening, what’s happening?’ She could tell that something wasn’t quite as it should be.

Peeking through the slightly ajar door, she caught sight of individuals she initially believed to be police officers restraining another man. However, this turned out to be the building’s concierge instead.

In just a few moments, Kim discovered she was uncertain about dialing 911 in a foreign land. Soon after, a man, disguised as a police officer, entered, seized her phone, and forcefully pushed her onto the bed.

She shared with her sisters, “That’s it,” she said, implying a sense of realization. In her mind, she pondered, “It fills me with anger to even consider it, but either they’ll betray me and shoot me from behind, or if I manage to escape and they don’t, there’s no chance for salvation.

Of the jewelry she lost, “It’s all replaceable, none of it matters.”

Before the March 19 episode premiered, Kim explained sharing her story in this way.

She posted on Instagram, “Tonight’s episode is going to be quite challenging for me.” She accompanied her message with the last family photo from Paris, which features her along with Kourtney, Kendall Jenner, and mom Kris Jenner. She explained that she wanted to share this personal story in her own words instead of an interview where her meaning could be misconstrued. This experience was particularly impactful for her. She wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but she has learned some valuable lessons and feels grateful to be home safe with her family. To her loved ones, she expressed her heartfelt thanks for their support during this difficult time. To the French police, she expressed her gratitude for their hard work.

Kim remarked in a May 2017 episode of KUWTK, “I truly didn’t expect that the robbers would be caught,” she said, referring to the arrests of seventeen suspects in January. “I thought so much time had passed and I underestimated how dedicated the French police were, not realizing all the effort they were putting into the investigation.

She went on to say, “Discovering the extent of involvement by so many and listening to intricate details gave me an entirely new viewpoint, a sense of security swelling within me.

In summary, by May 2025, a total of 12 individuals were indicted, and out of those, 10 stood trial. Unfortunately, one of the accused passed away before the trial, while another was found unfit due to illness to participate in the proceedings.

Kim expressed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in April 2017, “It might sound strange, but I truly believe that event was meant for me. My life has changed drastically…I feel like experiences occur in your life to educate you, and this was one of those instances. Before, I was quite materialistic, focusing on possessions. However, I no longer prioritize material wealth. I’m grateful for my success and the achievements of others, but now I’m content with who I am and how I’m raising my kids. Material things hold little importance to me anymore.

As a self-proclaimed enthusiast of dazzling jewels, I once carried my extensive collection while jetting off to the City of Lights. However, upon reflection, I find myself saying, “I’ve since evolved beyond that.

Kim shared with Ellen DeGeneres that, looking back, it would have been wise to have a security guard stationed outside my door around the clock while traveling. It wasn’t something I gave much thought to before, she acknowledged, but now I have several for my peace of mind during the night.

Kim avoided visiting the City of Light until June 2018, when she returned to Paris alongside her then-husband Kanye West. The occasion was their friend Virgil Abloh’s debut show as the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton.

Before their journey, Kim pondered aloud to Khloe and Kourtney, saying, “Though I’m feeling jittery, I believe it matters a lot to Kanye that we go. It seems the appropriate choice for Virgil.

In a heartfelt moment during an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” she expressed, “Paris holds many cherished memories for me. I’m hoping this journey will be so wonderful that it helps me recall all the enchanting aspects of Paris and why Kanye and I fell in love with it.

After returning to Los Angeles, Kim confided in her sisters that, while she felt a bit anxious, she was generally okay during her trip.

“It was so good,” she said. “Like, honestly, I’m so glad we went.”

After the robbery, Kim might have discovered a sense of purpose and understanding about what truly matters to her, and she may have rearranged her priorities accordingly. However, it’s important to acknowledge that this was an incredibly frightening ordeal for her.

She admitted on an October 2019 episode of Felony Files that it was the most terrifying experience she’s ever had, reflecting on the feeling of impending death. In those ten minutes, she prepared herself for the moment they would shoot and end her life, a moment that drastically altered her entire existence.

In October 2020, Kim detailed her personal story to David Letterman during an episode of his show titled “My Next Guest in No Way Needs an Introduction”.

According to Kim, there were two men with masks who spoke French and began shouting at her. Startled, she sat up, and they repeatedly demanded “The ring, the ring.” Once she understood that they were talking about her engagement ring, which was by the bed, she gave it to them. In return, one of them grabbed her. At the time, she was wearing a robe without any clothing underneath.

Blinking back tears, Kim added, “I don’t want to ruin my makeup.”

He seized me and dragged me close to him,” Kim went on. “Since I wasn’t wearing anything beneath, I felt the imminent threat of rape, so I mentally prepared myself for it, accepting that it was inevitable. He bound me with handcuffs, then zip ties, followed by more duct tape, covering my mouth and eyes.

Prior to concealing her eyes, Kim exclaimed, “I could see he’d discovered my entire jewelry box and brandished it triumphantly, saying something like, ‘Eureka!’ or ‘Gotcha,’ you know, implying ‘We’ve won.’ However, I continued focusing on the concierge [who had been coerced to open her door under threat of a gun] since I didn’t recognize him. I was wondering, ‘What is going on? Are we in danger? Just tell them I have kids, I have infants, I have a spouse, I have a family, like I need to get home!’

During the robbery when a gun was pointed at her, Kim said to David Letterman, ‘I couldn’t help but think about Kourtney. I thought, if I don’t make it home, she’ll find me dead in our room and she’ll be traumatized for life. We were sharing a room, and I believed that was my destiny.’

She went on to say, “The man without a weapon was repeatedly telling her, ‘If you stay quiet, you’ll be fine.’

“He could hardly speak English,” Kim added, “but I was like, ‘Okay, is he giving me a signal?’”

Kim jokingly mentioned that she’s seen every episode of ‘CSI’ ever made,” she shared, explaining her attempt to memorize her attacker’s features for the police, but “all I can remember disappears.

Following her restraint, “Kim stated that he lifted me up, carried me to the bathtub, and then set me down there. Afterward, he scooped me up once more, placing me on the floor before hastily departing,” Kim explained.

Following the robbery in Paris, Kim stated on an episode of “The Kardashians” that she hasn’t purchased jewelry since then. This was after Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented her with a beautiful cross necklace in autumn 2022 as a token of appreciation for her role as creator director for their Dolce & Gabbana Spring-Summer 2023 show. Kim explained that she hasn’t been keen on wearing jewelry since the robbery, as it was such an unexpected and profound experience for her. She felt ready to let go of it.

I couldn’t help but feel that this wasn’t just about acquiring a dazzling diamond cross pendant. It was, in essence, reclaiming a fragment of my allure, making it even more precious because it came from an encounter that held deep significance for me.
