Inside the First-Ever Grand Dîner at the Louvre with Gigi Hadid and More

The Met Gala may have some competition.

On March 4th, the Louvre Museum in Paris held its first grand dinner, the Le Grand Dîner du Louvre, and celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Kiera Knightley, Anna Sawai, and even Anna Wintour herself graced the event to celebrate its glamorous nature. This prestigious gathering earned the recognition of the chairwoman of the Met Gala.

On her debut at Paris Fashion Week, Gigi was exceptionally radiant in a Moschino dress that was crafted from three neutral garments sewn as one, off-the-shoulder style. In terms of color, the actress known for “Shogun” followed the simple palette too; however, she made an impact with her shape instead. Her Dior gown, made of white eyelet lace, boasted a see-through corset and an intricate high-low, cage-like skirt design.

In the meantime, Keira decided on a more subdued color scheme. For this occasion, the actress from “Pride & Prejudice” chose a black peplum gown from Chanel’s Fall 2024 collection. To add to the spectacle, the silver adornments on the corset stood out, and her husband, James Righton, complemented her in a timeless black suit.

Paris Jackson showcased an innovative style by donning an avant-garde Iris van Herpen gown adorned with fringe-like macramé that accentuated the bodice and sleeves. On the other hand, Taylor Hill, once a Victoria’s Secret angel, opted for a futuristic flair with a superhero-esque naked dress featuring a metallic-like skeleton design by the same designer.

After that, we have actresses like Kelly Rutherford from “Gossip Girl,” who remained stylish in a Vetements dress with strong shoulders, which flowed so gracefully it seemed about to envelop her entirely. As for Anna, the longstanding editor of Vogue who has been a co-chair of the Met Gala since 1995, she opted for a modest white floral gown and a long black jacket that touched the floor.

What led to the festive display of fashion within one of Paris’ most renowned and ancient art museums? According to Olivier Gabet, who serves as director of the decorative arts department at the Louvre Museum, the intention was to honor the longstanding fusion of art and fashion over the centuries.

Olivier stated to Vogue in January that while haute couture and high prices may be associated with fashion, it’s an integral aspect of today’s mainstream culture, including visual culture. Many people find themselves in sync with fashion trends, and this perspective is a means of welcoming them into the museum experience as well, allowing them to realize they share similar sensibilities.
