Intergalactic PS5 May See Naughty Dog Leaning Further into RPG Elements

The upcoming title by Naughty Dog goes by the name “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.” Although we have some notion about its general features, specifics regarding the game’s layout and mechanisms are still being kept secret for the time being.

Yet, observant fans on Reddit have unearthed what might be a hint from a previous Naughty Dog staff member.

Based on their professional description, they have been developing “role-playing game advancement mechanics” for an upcoming science fiction action video game.

This development seems to have given rise to the perception that Intergalactic could possibly be the studio’s game with the strongest focus on Role-Playing Game elements so far.

In the Last of Us series, you can see role-playing game (RPG) elements such as skill development, weapon enhancements, and more. So, it’s likely that we may witness an expansion or deepening of such features in Intergalactic.

Furthermore, since studio head Neil Druckmann has expressed his admiration for role-playing games (RPGs) by FromSoftware like Bloodborne and Elden Ring in the past, it’s possible that elements inspired by such games may find their way into our project as well.

As a die-hard fan, I can share that so far, Intergalactic has been hailed as playable and mind-blowing by Naughty Dog themselves! They’ve gone on to describe its narrative as their wildest, most imaginative tale ever crafted.

The trailer suggests there will be hand-to-hand fighting scenes, a staple often paired with role-playing game (RPG) elements. It’s not hard to envision RPG aspects from God of War being applicable in Intergalactic, such as diverse weapons and gear for customizable character builds.

Of course, that’s merely conjecture from our side, yet it’s fascinating to ponder over, wouldn’t you agree? If enhancing the role-playing game (RPG) aspects significantly in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet appeals to you, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
