Interview With the Vampire: Sam Reid Says He Wishes He Could have Asked Anne Rice About Lestat

As a dedicated gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in various worlds, I can confidently say that my experience with Sam Reid’s portrayal of Lestat de Lioncourt in “Interview With the Vampire” is nothing short of exceptional. His transformation into the iconic “Brat Prince” vampire has been a captivating journey, and I eagerly await his rock star Lestat in Season 3.

Actor Sam Reid, famously known for his role as Lestat de Lioncourt in the TV series “Interview With the Vampire”, has delved two seasons deep into portraying this iconic character from Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles”. As the series gears up for its third season, Reid is set to bring a new version of Lestat, a rock star Lestat, reflecting the second novel in Rice’s book series, “The Vampire Lestat”. Despite numerous questions about his portrayal of Lestat so far, there’s one person’s input and queries Reid yearns for – Anne Rice herself. In an interview with “Fault” magazine, Reid expressed his wish to have conversed with Rice, feeling that she would have a wealth of challenging remarks to share.

When asked about Lestat, Reid expressed that he’s had quite a bit of in-depth discussion on the topic. He added that if given the chance, he would have enjoyed talking with Anne Rice about the character, as he believes she could have provided him with challenging insights.

In December 2021, Anne Rice, who was 80 years old, unfortunately succumbed to complications from a stroke. Her death occurred only a few months after it was announced that Matthew Reid had been cast as Lestat, which happened in August. Sadly, Rice and Reid never had the chance to discuss Lestat before her passing. However, in 2022, Reid shared with ComicBook his enthusiasm for Rice’s books, expressing how fortunate he felt to be able to bring them to life on screen.

“Reid expressed great enthusiasm. Being deeply attached to the novels, he confessed, “When I learned about the TV adaptation, I couldn’t help but feel hopeful about auditioning for it. The pressure is immense because you want to do justice to the character in your beloved world. These books are so cherished and the world she crafted is extraordinary, adding to the self-imposed pressure to meet their expectations. Yet, what a remarkable opportunity, gift, and privilege this role represents.”

What Can Fans Expect in Season 3 of Interview With the Vampire?

In Season 3 of ‘Interview With the Vampire’, dissatisfied with the shallow representation in the popular novel, ‘Interview With The Vampire’, the character Lestat, who is a vampire, decides to correct his narrative in an unconventional way – by forming a band and embarking on a tour. Joining him are characters such as Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, Marius, Those Who Must Be Kept, along with Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others whose identities we can’t reveal just yet. This journey takes them through a sensual exploration across space, time, and personal turmoil. There are no digital enhancements or content warnings, but the emotions are intensified.

According to showrunner Rollin Jones, Lestat will play a prominent role, making the series feel as if it has been taken over by Lestat. In terms of visuals, he advises viewers to prepare themselves for a representation of the show that embodies Lestat’s unique style and appearance.

Interview With the Vampire is now streaming on Netflix.
