Just one episode left for Season 3 of ‘Invincible’ on Amazon Prime Video, and it promises a grand finale. After the emotional end of the Invincible War, Mark Grayson is working to restore the world devastated by his evil counterparts summoned by Angstrom Levy. In the second-to-last episode of this season, a new villain named Conquest has arrived, and here’s what you should know about the scariest foe Mark has ever encountered.
In the seventh episode of season three, I bear witness to a formidable adversary, known as Conquest, stepping forward to mentor Mark for the Viltrum empire. His stern demeanor and intimidating appearance, complete with a missing arm and eye, are testaments to his battle-hardened past. This latest antagonist in our animated series is lent his menacing voice by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who famously portrayed Negan in AMC’s The Walking Dead. In an intriguing twist of fate, this encounter reunites him with Steven Yeun, whose character Glenn was brutally ended by Negan on the same series. Beyond his role as Negan, Morgan has also graced the screens with his talent in shows like The Boys, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Watchmen, and Supernatural.
Conquest’s Conquest
In service of the Viltrumite empire, Conquest may find satisfaction, but what truly captivates him is a challenge worthy of his focus. Similar to Battle Beast from Invincible, this elder alien thrives on confrontation, expressing delight when Mark proposes a full-force assault. Trust me, when these two clash in the season finale of eight, it’ll be one of the bloodiest and action-packed battles the series has seen yet.
As a huge fan, it’s not hard to see the similarities in abilities between Conquest, Mark, and Nolan Grayson – they all hail from the same race, after all! Though it hasn’t been explicitly stated, I can’t help but think that Conquest might just outmuscle Omni-Man. Now, regarding how our Viltrumite antagonist lost his arm and eye, let me share an intriguing detail: it was during a fierce clash with the Rognarr, a formidable alien species. In the series’ upcoming episodes, these fearsome creatures will take center stage as they pose a significant threat even to the Viltrumites themselves. In one instance, they nearly claimed Conquest’s life when they crossed paths!
Previously, it was revealed that Nolan disclosed a major secret about the Viltrumites – their numbers were significantly less than they led others to believe. This revelation has made Conquest a valuable card for the Viltrum Empire, so when an alien adversary from their race lands on Earth, it underscores the high stakes they have in getting Mark to comply with their wishes.
Where to Read About Conquest Before Invincible’s Finale
If you’re eagerly anticipating the season finale of “Invincible” on March 13th, you might want to know that the main storyline in the comic books has already reached its conclusion. The original comic series ended in 2018, following a fifteen-year run, and it was in issue #61 where Conquest first made an appearance. The conflict between Mark Grayson and the Viltrumite lasts for four more issues and an additional epilogue, creating one of the most brutal showdowns in a series notorious for its graphic violence.
From my perspective, wrapping up the struggle against Conquest and its repercussions could serve as a fitting conclusion for Invincible’s third season. However, it’s important to note that I can only speculate about how Mark’s latest adventure will culminate the storyline.
Fortunately, I’ve learned that Invincible has been officially renewed for a fourth season, and its creator, Robert Kirkman, is hopeful that the series will continue for a total of eight seasons. Given where the adaptation stands in relation to its original source material, this seems plausible.
