Invincible: Robert Kirkman Reveals What's Taking the Live-Action Movie So Long

As a dedicated fan who has been following the adventures of Invincible since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and patience as we wait for the live-action film to finally materialize. It’s been an exciting seven-year journey so far, with the animated series on Prime Video delivering thrilling episodes, and the promise of Seasons 3 and 4 keeping us on the edge of our seats.

Although the hit animated “Invincible” series on Amazon Prime Video continues to flourish, with Season 3 approaching and Season 4 already confirmed, it’s interesting to know that a live-action “Invincible” film was initially announced in 2017, even before the series premiered. However, despite the passage of seven years, the movie adaptation hasn’t come to fruition yet. As per Robert Kirkman, the creator of “Invincible”, the film is still being developed, and he’s been candid about the reasons for the delay. Essentially, he wants to ensure the film is as exceptional as it can possibly be and can stand independently from the series.

According to Kirkman, the project is still under construction, and discussions with Universal continue. He emphasized that the series is doing exceptionally well, which makes him believe that the movie must be flawless. Therefore, they are investing significant time into ensuring all parts fit together perfectly before releasing it. As such, development has been ongoing for quite some time, and it may take a while longer before we see the final product.

He noted, “Though the new show must offer a distinct experience compared to what’s already been seen, it should remain intriguingly connected to Invincible. However, it needs to carve its unique identity. It should stand independently. That’s an area we’re putting considerable effort into. I believe when it eventually premieres, it will be quite exciting.”

Last year, Kirkman conveyed a somewhat related idea, mentioning that the project was then ongoing, and hinting that the series had positively influenced the film’s prospects.

Kirkman mentioned that they are diligently continuing work on the live-action film. He explained that sometimes movies require extra time, but with the growing interest and enthusiasm surrounding it, especially after the show, progress is being made as swiftly as possible.

Invincible Renewed for Season 4

It’s been verified that Amazon’s “Invincible” series will indeed continue with a fourth season, and it was already known that Season 3 was in development. At present, neither of these seasons have a projected release date. However, voice actor Ross Marquand has speculated that the series may return as early as 2025.

Regarding “Invincible” Season 3, we’re nearing completion. I’d rather not reveal too much as Robert might say, ‘Don’t disclose anything because we’re still unsure.’ However, I have a strong hunch that it will premiere sometime in the early part of next year.

The first two seasons of Invincible are now streaming on Prime Video.
