Invincible Season 3 Finale: Shocking Deaths and Epic Showdowns Revealed!

Warning: This article contains full spoilers for the final episode of Invincible season 3.

In the third season of Invincible, Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs), and their group have undoubtedly faced tough challenges.

Apart from confronting eighteen formidable, Invincible-type adversaries due to the resurgence of Angstrom Levy (played by Sterling K Brown), they later found themselves engaged in a fierce confrontation with the Empire’s toughest Viltrumite warrior.

In the second-to-last episode, there were numerous stunning scenes and unexpected character deaths (farewell Rex!), leaving viewers in awe. The subsequent invasion tested the resilience of various superheroes and the Global Defense Agency to their maximum capacities.

However, while Mark was busy aiding in the cleanup and searching for survivors following the destruction of the Invincible War, the esteemed Viltrumite warrior, Conquest (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), made his entrance.

In a striking resemblance to the carnage and intense brutality experienced during the fight between Omni-Man (portrayed by JK Simmons) in Chicago, this epic confrontation left spectators in awe – yet, who among them survived and what does the post-credits scene imply? Delve deeper into our comprehensive analysis for the answers.

What happens in the Invincible season 3 finale showdown?

After the nail-biting ending of the penultimate episode (standing by, awaiting your arrival), creator Robert Kirkman wastes no time, diving headfirst into the thick of things in the season finale.

In the role of an enthusiastic fan, I’d put it like this: Just as advanced scout Anissa (Shantel VanSanten) forewarned us last season, we now discover that Conquest has come to scrutinize Mark’s readiness for the Viltrumite Empire’s impending conquest.

Since no more advancement was made and he encountered opposition, he’s been instructed to assume Mark’s responsibilities, whatever it takes.

Consequently, a prolonged fight breaks out between them, lasting nearly half an hour. At first glance, Mark seemed evenly matched against the seasoned Viltrumite, but it’s evident that he’s finding it tough after the Invincible War.

In a hurry, Oliver (Christian Convery), his half-brother, tries to lend aid, but is promptly shooed off. A subsequent strike renders Oliver injured, causing him to expel several teeth from his mouth, and Conquest lunges – almost tearing the purple Viltrumite hybrid apart.

Fortunately, Cecil arrives swiftly to rescue Oliver, however, Conquest doesn’t hesitate to use Mark as a human shield (much like Nolan), leading to devastating results among the uninvolved spectators.

Injured Atom Eve swoops in to shield wounded Mark (“Stay back, you brute”), as they both strive to control the Viltrumite.

Yet, Conquest swiftly injures Mark’s leg, and even with a collection of clever tactics such as a striking pink hammer reminiscent of Harley Quinn, the Viltrumite surprisingly delivers powerful blows to Eve’s jaw and pierces her through the abdomen instead.

However, Conquest inflicts harm on Mark’s leg quickly, and with a bagful of tricks that include a noteworthy pink hammer similar to what Harley Quinn might use, the Viltrumite unexpectedly strikes Eve’s jaw hard and impales her through the middle.

or

In contrast, Conquest soon hurts Mark by breaking his leg, and with a bag filled with tricks that even include a remarkable pink hammer like the one Harley Quinn carries, the Viltrumite astonishingly punches Eve’s jaw and thrusts her through the stomach with it.

Enraged, Mark damages Conquest’s robotic limb, causing a break in his forearm. As they struggle, Mark sinks his teeth into Conquest, ripping chunks of muscle from his shoulder.

In the meantime, Eve astonishingly regenerates her body and awakens, then transitions into a super Saiyan form, discharging a destructive energy blast at Conquest. This blast severely charred Conquest’s skin.

As Conquest lunges for Eve, Mark stops the Viltrumite, headbutting him until he dies.

What happens to Conquest?

Following what appears to be Invincible killing the Viltrumite warrior, he asks to verify the body. In the subsequent scene, Cecil opens a body bag revealing the crushed remains of Conquest. “Destroy it,” Mark orders, and Cecil simply agrees.

However, true to his character, Cecil didn’t incinerate Conquest’s remains, thus preserving the possibility of a future Viltrumite resurrection. Instead, the head of the Global Defense Agency sealed off Conquest’s body within a massive 400-tonne steel alloy block, burying it an astounding 600 miles beneath the desert.

How does the battle affect Mark?

In the hospital, a wounded and weary Mark shares deep feelings with his brother Cecil, confessing that Oliver’s perspective on dealing with villains was indeed valid. Meanwhile, he also gives orders for Conquest’s body to be cremated.

Mark affirms that he is considering taking lethal action against villains, and he’s prepared to do so.

Mark’s confrontation with Angstrom Levy during the Invincible War, along with Conquest’s appearance, served as a significant pivotal moment in his life, dramatically altering his perspective on the employment of deadly force.

This season, Mark’s struggle between right and wrong, as he debates whether to kill or not, has been the central theme of his character development. The final episode hinted at where Mark’s story might be headed, particularly since the Viltrumite War is about to begin.

How did Atom Eve survive?

Due to a remarkable turn of events, Atom Eve managed to withstand Conquest’s ferocious assault as her body temporarily removed the self-imposed limitations on her abilities that previously restricted her actions. This is the reason behind her inability to alter conscious matter.

Indeed, I’ve observed that the impact of a life-threatening experience can sometimes shatter the barriers that once restricted her abilities, granting her unrestrained use of her powers. In essence, it was as though the brink of death compelled her to completely remake her body.

Apart from sharing this incident, she mentions it occurred previously as well. Additionally, she had intended to inform Invincible about it, but was yet to find a suitable moment for disclosure.

What’s teased for the next season of Invincible?

Additionally, the tantalizing hints of Invincible ReAnimen and Rudy adopting the new identity of Rex, along with an action-packed finale, establish numerous intriguing storylines for upcoming seasons.

Initially, we encounter a troop of parasitic Sequid aliens, under the command of Rus Livingston who hints “not much longer,” lurking in the sewers preparing for another assault. It seems likely that the climax to the Sequid storyline will unfold swiftly in season 3.

In the sequel, the beloved character Michael Dorn, known as Battle Beast, is rescued from the cosmos and responds, emphatically demanding more.

Because of his exceptional combat skills and unyielding determination, they’ll likely try to reclaim him for the Coalition of Planets, aiming to enlist him in the forthcoming Viltrumite War.

In conclusion, after his confrontation with Invincible, Angstrom Levy receives a bionic arm from the Technicians and queries what they require in exchange for it.

The highly-skilled doctors are considering departing from their wrecked realm and joining forces with Levy, hinting that our collaboration promises even greater joys to come.

Invincible season 3 post-credits scene explained

In a thrilling twist that left me utterly astonished, creator Robert Kirkman has breathed new life into one of my favorite enigmatic characters – none other than the demonic detective, Damien Darkblood, portrayed brilliantly by Clancy Brown.

Previously appeared in episode 4 of season 1 titled “Eat Your Heart Out,” Neil Armstrong, the demon, was sent back to the underworld by Cecil following his successful resolution of the mystery presented by the Guardians of the Globe.

Back in hell, we see Damien Darkblood drawing a pentagram symbol to summon the dark one.

Darkblood humbly asks for forgiveness, saying that he wouldn’t stir the mighty beast unless he had good tidings to share. He possesses a way to help you regain your throne in the netherworld.

A formidable figure from the surface world, possessing a power unprecedented on this planet for ages, boasts abilities surpassing all others. His heart shrouded in darkness shall serve you, sinister one. I have unearthed methods to summon him hither.

As a film enthusiast, I must say that this portrayal of the character is remarkably different from his comic book counterpart, who primarily served a humorous purpose.

Instead, Kirkman has reinvented Darkblood as a dedicated detective by unraveling the mystery behind Omni-Man’s case and planting seeds of suspicion towards Debbie (Sandra Oh). This ultimately paved the way for Nolan’s significant discovery.

The final scene hints at the return of the mysterious detective, but it’s unclear if this refers to a familiar character or a new one.

Among the possible choices are either “Dark Wing II” by Cleveland Berto or one of the other “Invincibles,” given that they’re all presently immersed in the Shadowverse, a state resulting from the Invincible War’s conclusion.

On the other hand, this presents an excellent chance for the introduction of yet another beloved character – Dinosaurus (also known as David Anders).

In the comic books, Dinosaurs often play a significant role as adversaries, and their devastating abilities and colossal strength align perfectly with the characteristics of Darkblood.

Since the intriguing hint at a continuation in the end credits has us all excited, it’s wonderful to know that work on a fourth season of Invincible is already in progress. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait much longer for more episodes!
