Invincible Season 4 Will Flip Mark’s Life and Introduce New Threats

The animated series on Prime Video titled Invincible consistently leaves viewers eagerly anticipating more with each passing season. Pivotal moments often leave Mark Grayson and his comrades in a state of confusion, making us yearn for resolution. However, this suspense can be aggravating when one season concludes, initiating the agonizing wait until the next one starts. Alas, even though the gap between Season 4 won’t match that between Seasons 1 and 2, a cliffhanger remains a cliffhanger. Fortunately, the show has extensive source material available, which offers plenty of insights about the upcoming events in Invincible.

In Season 4 of Invincible, not every storyline will follow exactly from the comics. The ending of Season 3 hinted at a unique future for Damien Darkblood, which is different from Robert Kirkman’s original plot. However, if you’re looking for clues, the comics are still the best source.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW!

Mark Grayson’s Life Is Going To Get Flipped Upside Down in Invincible Season 4

At the culmination of Season 3 in ‘Invincible’, Mark triumphs over the Viltrumite Conquest who aimed to create chaos on Earth. Atom Eve plays a crucial role in this victory. Following the battle, they both look towards their future with optimism, hoping to finally be together. However, Season 4 introduces complications as Eve discovers she’s pregnant and struggles to accept the news. Choosing secrecy, she doesn’t share this with Mark who, once again, has a multitude of responsibilities on his hands.

As long as Mark is alive on Earth, his father Nolan Grayson and an alien named Allen are collaborating with the United Planets Alliance in a quest to vanquish the Viltrumites. One possible remedy they’re considering is an enhanced edition of the Scourge Virus, which has demonstrated effectiveness by reducing their enemy to just 50 remaining members. Yet, Nolan hesitates to support this measure initially due to fears that spreading the virus could extinguish himself and his sons. To enlist Mark in their mission, he decides to return to Earth. This move sets off the Viltrumite War, and during the fighting, Mark will encounter at least one acquaintance from his past. In spite of attempts by the Galactic Defense Agency (GDA) to keep him locked up, Conquest manages to break free and resume his rampage in space.

I’m noticing a significant turn of events for Mark, as the risks have escalated substantially now that Nolan’s decided to bring his younger brother, Oliver, along on their space journey. Given that Oliver carries Viltrumite DNA, it’s evident, yet he remains inexperienced, which is a cause for concern among Nolan’s people who are fiercely protective of their pure bloodlines. This puts Mark under immense pressure to safeguard his brother and finally vanquish the Viltrumites once and for all.

The Viltrumites Won’t Be the Only Threat to Earth in Invincible Season 4

In a simpler scenario, if Mark only had to tackle one villain per season, life would be less complicated, but it wouldn’t make for very exciting television. However, in Season 4, the creators are planning to give Mark multiple antagonists instead. The upcoming episode hints at the return of Sequid, and they won’t waste much time causing trouble. The Guardians of the Globe try to handle the situation, but it turns out to be more than they can manage, forcing them to recruit Invincible to resolve it. However, Mark loses his temper in the process and terminates Ron Livingston, the Sequid’s host, to eliminate the threat.

Following the Sequid’s assault, the Flaxans make their return with the intention of avenging the harm inflicted upon them by Omni-Man at the beginning of the narrative. The younger heroes encounter some difficulties initially, but ultimately emerge victorious, thus restoring Earth’s safety once more.

The first three seasons of Invincible are streaming on Prime Video.
