Robert Kirkman, the unconquerable creator behind Invincible, expressed his surprise if the long-anticipated live-action movie adaptation of the popular comic book series won’t eventually grace our cinema screens. Before the animated series on Prime Video made waves, the project was selected for film development in 2017. Since then, there’s been little to no news about the movie apart from general assurances that it’s still in the works. This has led some Invincible fans to worry that the movie might get stuck in development limbo and never see daylight. However, Kirkman himself has recently spoken up, reassuring us that he doesn’t foresee this happening.
In a private chat with ComicBook, the creator of Invincible, Robert Kirkman, shared his confidence that the movie adaptation will eventually happen. Although Kirkman was tight-lipped about specifics, he mentioned that the show’s success as an animated series has both complicated and facilitated the process of making the film. Regarding the project’s current stage, he stated it’s still in its infancy, implying that significant updates regarding the movie are unlikely to surface anytime soon.
Kirkman commented on the movie, saying he’s limited in what he can reveal. He did mention that the TV show significantly affects both the ease and challenges in creating the film. Essentially, that’s about all he can share at this point, unfortunately, as it’s still in early stages of production.
“I would be shocked if it doesn’t happen one day,” he then added.
Currently, the details we have about the Invincible movie are similar to what was announced around eight years back. The film is being written, directed, and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, but as of now, no actors have been selected to portray the characters. It’s probable that the project is still in its scripting phase and may continue to be so for some time. When the movie’s script is completed, we can expect to learn more about potential cast members for Invincible, Omni-Man, Atom Eve, and other series characters. For now, it appears that the Invincible animated series on Prime Video will serve as the main adaptation of the source material.
By the way, you might want to check out that the third season of “Invincible” has come to an end and is now available for viewing in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video. Although details about Season 4 are known, as of now, there’s no specific date set for its release.
