Iron Fist Confirmed to Return Before Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

This year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will welcome back Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist, on Disney+, fueling rumors of his appearance in the anticipated series, Daredevil: Born Again. Last year, Finn Jones’ character was among several superheroes officially integrated into the MCU prior to the release of Daredevil: Born Again. Given that Charlie Cox (as Daredevil), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) have been confirmed for next year’s Season 2, there is a buzzing speculation that Jones’ Iron Fist and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage might follow suit.

According to Entertainment Weekly’s report, which was hinted at D23 earlier, Iron Fist is indeed making a comeback this year on Disney+’s “Eyes of Wakanda.” Although an Iron Fist appeared to be teased in “What If…? Season 3,” this will mark the hero’s initial substantial appearance since Netflix’s “Iron Fist” Season 2 back in 2018.

At D23 in 2024, the “Eyes of Wakanda” team hinted that the series would showcase additional heroes hailing from hidden metropolises, such as one boasting a “radiant fist,” as suggested by ComicBook.

In the Marvel Studios universe, we haven’t only seen a martial artist with glowing fists once. In fact, Season 3 of “What If…?” introduced Kwai Jun-Lan as a young version of Iron Fist. The Wild West episode subtly suggested his Iron Fist identity when Kate Bishop remarked about him having “a bit of iron in his fists,” and hinted at potential competition between him and Shang-Chi.

Is Iron Fist Coming Back in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

Fans are still eagerly anticipating that Finn Jones may reprise his role as Iron Fist in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Although other Defenders have been reintroduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Danny Rand’s situation is somewhat unclear due to Iron Fist being the least successful and least favored among the Netflix series.

Given this development, it seems Marvel Studios has an opportunity to give Danny Rand (Jones’ character) a fresh start within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This potential rehabilitation might occur in the upcoming series “Born Again,” as the first season set the stage for Matt Murdock to reassemble the Defenders to tackle Wilson Fisk, and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones has been confirmed for Season 2.

Although showrunner Dario Scardapane has suggested discussions about reviving Iron Fist, it’s unclear if Season 2 is imminent. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean fans should lose hope of seeing Danny Rand again. Since the series Born Again is anticipated to run for additional seasons, there will likely be more chances for his return.

Marvel Studios might consider incorporating Iron Fist into other parts of the MCU, possibly teaming him up with another martial arts superhero in the sequel to _Shang-Chi_.
