In the upcoming Disney+ series from Marvel Studios titled “Ironheart,” fans have been given their first sneak peek at Shea Couleé, the winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” portraying the character Slug. This marks Slug’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Details about Slug and their appearance were shared by “Entertainment Weekly.” In this new role, Shea Couleé’s character is described as a highly skilled hacker with a strong personality, teasing that viewers will get to see some stunning looks from Slug.
Slug is an ally of a vigilante group in the series, working towards correcting societal disparities within the show’s representation of Chicago. This role places Slug as a crucial figure with a unique style and a morally gray agenda within the storyline, suggesting that the character may add complexity to the dynamics faced by Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne).
In simpler terms, as described by Couleé, Slug assists a group of modern-day Robin Hoods who aim to redistribute wealth from the privileged to the community. He actively participates in all their missions to alter the power structure within the Chicago depicted in the series. Speaking about his specific roles, Couleé mentioned that he’s more like the driver for escape scenarios, often found in the van with his stylish laptop and manicured nails, helping hack crucial computer systems.

In the Disney+ series “Ironheart,” the main character will be Riri Williams, who was first introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” After her appearance there, we’ll follow this brilliant MIT student and inventor as she returns to her hometown of Chicago. However, her homecoming isn’t tranquil; instead, she finds herself mixed up with Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos). This run-in plunges Riri into a perilous struggle where advanced technology meets dark magic. As a result, she must deal with new threats and clarify her role as a hero more distinctly. The series plans to delve deeper into Riri’s background and the incidents that molded her, focusing on how her experiences in Wakanda impact her transformation into Ironheart. Chinaka Hodge is the head writer for the show, which is also overseen by Ryan Coogler through his Proximity Media banner. The series is helmed by directors Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes.
In addition to Riri and The Hood, the show will introduce Anji White as Riri’s mother, Ronnie Williams, providing a glimpse into Riri’s childhood. Moreover, Jim Rash will return as the Dean of MIT, connecting Riri’s academic past to her present escapades. There’s much excitement among fans about Sacha Baron Cohen, who has been signed for an unspecified role. Some believe Cohen might be introducing Mephisto, a long-awaited character in the MCU, possibly as The Hood’s source of supernatural powers since The Hood gains his abilities from a demonic entity in Marvel Comics.
