As a longtime wrestling enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of Bullet Club since its inception, I find the current state of Jay White and Juice Robinson’s faction intriguing. It’s like watching a modern-day version of the Road Warriors with their dual identities, the Bang Bang Gang and Bullet Club Gold.
Back in the vibrant world of professional wrestling last year, I found myself thrilled as one of the many fans when the illustrious stable of modern times, known for its rich history, extended its influence to All Elite Wrestling. Fast forward to April 2023, a moment that sent shivers down my spine – former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White made his grand entrance into AEW, teaming up with Ricky Starks in an unexpected assault against none other than Ricky himself!
Regardless, White entered All Elite Wrestling (AEW) with a solid association with the Bullet Club, introducing a new division of this group known as “Bullet Club Gold.” Over time, White added The Gunns, former AEW World Tag Team Champions, to the ranks of Bullet Club Gold. This team would make their entrances accompanied by the distinctive producer tag of the Bullet Club at the start of their entrance music, and they’d wear gold versions of the traditional Bullet Club t-shirt with the skull and guns design. However, gradually, this group started to move away from their Bullet Club connection, opting to use their old nickname “The Bang Bang Gang” more frequently as their primary identifier.
Speaking to ComicBook, Robinson offered some clarification on his group’s name conundrum.
Robinson compared our team to the Legion of Doom and the Road Warriors, noting how these iconic tag teams used different names throughout their careers. However, he wasn’t sure about the official name for us, saying that might not be for him to decide. He’s aware that people likely know the history between me and Jay White, as well as our association with Bullet Club.
Robinson pointed out that when Austin and Colten Gunn joined the group, it seemed fitting to begin shifting our focus towards a different path.
Originally, we were under the same banner as the Bullet Club in Japan, but when we joined AEW, we adopted a different name. When The Gunns entered the scene, it reminded us of the Bang Bang Gang. It felt like something new and refreshed, a fresh coat of paint on an old canvas. Our dad was a New Age Outlaw, also known as The Smoking Gunn. It all fit together perfectly. We started joking about it, made a few t-shirts, and now people aren’t sure if it’s The Bang Bang Gang or Bullet Club Gold. Honestly, I don’t know what to call it either, but either name works for me.
White recently made his return to AEW television to help Robinson battle “Hangman” Adam Page.
