American Primeval is a “fictionalised dramatisation” of the birth of the American West.
The narrative centers around Sara Rowell and her child, Devin, as they navigate their way through the tumultuous conflict involving the U.S. Army, the Mormon Church, and Native American communities, in search of a secure path.

Is American Primeval returning for season 2?
It remains undecided by Netflix what lies ahead for American Primeval, as it is being promoted as a mini-series, making it uncertain whether additional episodes or seasons are in the works.
Regarding a potential return to the story, Peter Berg, both the director and executive producer, shared with Decider: “Upon wrapping up and looking at all the surviving actors, I found myself filled with warmth towards them. I believe there are numerous paths we could explore.
He suggested: “After being chilled from my wintertime mountain expeditions, it might be more bearable if we descended to less frigid areas. Perhaps we could return.
“As long as I don’t have to have ice cleats again, I definitely will come back.”
Berg expressed his willingness to talk again with Indigenous consultant Julie O’Keefe, should she reappear.

If it is given the thumbs up, we wouldn’t expect it to arrive until 2026 at least.

However, the course we’ll follow with the story is contingent on the preferred direction by the team, along with the key characters – both old and fresh faces – who will play significant roles in that narrative.
