As a die-hard fan who still remembers Chris Pine’s earth-shattering moment when he got the call about his role in “The Princess Diaries,” I can’t help but feel the excitement brewing for a potential return to Genovia. The news of a third movie is like a fairy tale come true, and with Adele Lim at the helm, I have no doubt that we’ll be in for another magical ride.
Could Chris Pine be headed back to Genovia?
After hearing that a third installment of the Princess Diaries film series is being developed, Chris, who starred alongside Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, was questioned about his possible participation.
During his interview on the Today show with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on October 8, he stressed that he was uninformed about the matter. He even suggested they reach out to Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, since he wasn’t aware of the details.
Yet, regardless of whether actress Gal Gadot, aged 44, is presently informed about the project, it doesn’t necessarily imply she has lost interest.
“I think it’s fantastic,” he added, “and I would love to come back.”
In the beginning of this year, the actor shared that the pivotal role he played as Nicholas Devereaux in the 2004 romantic comedy had a tremendously positive impact on his acting career.
Chris recounted on “Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist” in May that he was driving on the freeway during a sweltering summer day when his agents called to say he’d landed the job. Overwhelmed, he pulled over and learned he would be earning $65,000. This piece of news was equivalent to finding out he had made $50 million for him – it was absolutely mind-blowing and left him stunned.
He continued, “I just remember distinctly knowing in that moment that my life had changed somehow.”
Previously, it was verified that the third part of the series was progressing, with Adele Lim stepping up to direct instead of Garry Marshall, who had been in charge for the first two movies until his passing in 2016. (Adele Lim is the director of “Crazy Rich Asians.”)
Being a devoted admirer of the initial ‘Princess Diaries’, I’m incredibly thrilled to participate in creating the third version of this cherished series,” Lim stated. “We eagerly anticipate sharing its fundamental themes of feminine strength, happiness, and guidance with audiences globally.
Speaking as a devoted fan, I’m referring to Anne who brought Mia Thermopolis to life in the initial “Princess Diaries” film back in 2001. She recently expressed her feelings about the upcoming trilogy on social media in an endearing way. After a pause for three heartbeats, she playfully blew a kiss towards the camera and echoed Mia’s famous line, “Shut up!” with a charmingly assertive tone.
She titled the Instagram post on October 4th as, “Miraculous events unfold,” referencing a video that was shared. “Returning to Genovia with @adeleblim, @disney, and @somewherepictures,” she added, hinting at the continuation of a magical story.
