Is Coronation Street’s Joel alive as Swain and Kit uncover crucial clue?

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of soap operas, I must say that the latest twist in Coronation Street has left me utterly spellbound. The intrigue surrounding Joel Deering and his supposed suicide is as gripping as any thriller movie I’ve ever watched.

It seems that Coronation Street character Joel Deering, played by Calum Lill, might not be dead after all, given the significant clue discovered during last night’s broadcast on September 30th, 2024.

Joel sent a heartfelt, tearful voice message to his former fiancée Channique Sterling-Brown (Dee-Dee Bailey), expressing remorse for his actions. Upon receiving the voicemail, Dee-Dee shared it with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

When Lisa proposed the idea that Joel could’ve ended his own life, Dee-Dee continued to believe that Joel was merely playing a trick on them instead.

Shortly after, DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) disclosed that they’d identified Joel’s last known location via tracking. Consequently, Kit and Lisa decided to pay a visit to the specified spot.

At that location, they discovered an abandoned car belonging to Joel, with a suicide note on the dashboard. Informing Dee-Dee, Lisa mentioned that they would now focus their search efforts on locating Joel’s body.

Leaving the café, Lisa seemed quite moved by everything that had transpired. Later, Carla Connor (Alison King) approached Lisa, who tried to hide her distress. Eventually, she shared the news about Joel with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

Later on, Dee-Dee reached out to Lauren, seeking information about Joel’s latest whereabouts since they had talked earlier about Joel being in a field. Not long after, Dee-Dee discovered another vehicle hidden in the same field and phoned Lisa, urging her to come check out the location.

As a discerning movie-goer, I found myself puzzled by the revelation that the car, which had been assumed to be Joel’s, was actually registered to another individual. Dee-Dee, however, was unyielding in her belief that Joel had staged his own suicide scene. Lisa, a keen observer, maintained that more often than not, elements suggesting a death were, in fact, authentic deaths.

According to what Dee-Dee mentioned, Lisa had previously made an error by declaring someone as deceased. After receiving a message, Lisa chose to leave the scene.

In Joel’s apartment is where I crossed paths with Kit, discovering together the signs of a forced break-in. The peculiarity of the note left behind, coming from one of his notebooks, caught our attention. It didn’t take long for us to figure out that Joel’s supposed ‘death’ was not an impulsive decision, but something he had planned in advance.

Roy looked in on Dee-Dee, and together they went to the Rovers. There, Lisa was enjoying a bottle of wine with Carla, who was opening up about the impact her work was having on her.

At the bar, Lisa noticed Kit and they engaged in a quiet discussion. In this conversation, Kit disclosed that the second vehicle had already been purchased by Joel.

According to Kit’s observation, it’s more plausible that Joel didn’t commit suicide but rather orchestrated a hoax. This idea was supported by Lisa, who agreed with Dee-Dee. However, the question remains: Is Joel still alive and if so, where might he be?
