This is a separate game for cooperative multiplayer, taking place in the Elden Ring universe. Ever since its debut at TGA, fans of souls-like games have been eagerly waiting for this new spin-off from the 2022 smash hit. The upcoming network test for Elden Ring: Nightreign is stoking excitement and posing an intriguing question: will Elden Ring: Nightreign allow cross-platform play?
Unfortunately, no. Elden Ring Nightreign will not support cross-platform play.
Does Elden Ring Nightreign Support Crossplay?
The highly anticipated video game titled Elden Ring Nightreign is scheduled to release on May 30, 2025, across platforms such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and personal computers. It’s been officially clarified that this game doesn’t allow cross-platform gaming, similar to its predecessor Elden Ring.
During an interview with IGN, the game director of Elden Ring Nightreign, Junya Ishizaki, addressed a question concerning cross-platform play. In response, he shared the following insights.
Just like the initial Elden Ring, there will be compatibility across different console generations, but not between different platforms. This means PS4 users can team up with PS5 players, and Xbox One gamers can play alongside those on Xbox Series S and X, but players from one platform cannot join forces with those from another.
In simpler terms, each player must stick to their specific platform (like PS5 or PS4) when forming teams, but they can still play with others across different generations within the same ecosystem (such as PS4 and PS5). This also applies to Xbox consoles – players on One and Series X/S can engage in multiplayer games together.
Can you Play Elden Ring Nightreign Solo?
Fans of FromSoftware are excited to discover how Elden Ring: Nightreign integrates the souls-like roguelike style into cooperative multiplayer gameplay. This multiplayer game offers a three-player cooperative experience, where the environment and mechanics are tailored for a team of three. For those who prefer a solo adventure, Elden Ring: Nightreign also caters to that option. The game provides either a single-player or three-player co-op mode, but it does not support two players in tandem.
