As a die-hard Marvel fan who’s been following the adventures of our beloved Scarlet Witch since her debut, I must say that the latest news about Agatha: House of Harkness has me more excited than ever! With Elizabeth Olsen hinting at an interest in playing an aging Wanda and the Darkhold making a reappearance, it’s like Marvel is crafting a tale tailored just for us fans.
In this week, Agatha All Along premieres and Elizabeth Olsen shared more thoughts about reprising her role as Scarlet Witch. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Marvel actress expressed a willingness to return to the MCU, acknowledging the deep affection fans have for Wanda Maximoff. Simultaneously, Olsen discussed her affection for the Scarlet Witch and her eagerness to enjoy further adventures in the Marvel universe. She also hinted at Wanda’s apparent demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by mentioning, “There was a red light of explosive energy…” Thus, it remains unclear if Olsen is merely being playful or if there’s some other mystery at play. Regardless, the star of WandaVision knows how to ignite the Internet with speculation.
“I think I’m dead. I would beg to leave a window open [to return] … I would like to figure out how to cleverly [be] beyond dead. We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense.”
From these small comments, it’s clear that Olsen wants to put her costume back on. The only question now is how that’s going to happen. Scarlet Witch’s demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seems pretty conclusive. But, dealing with magic and being in The Multiverse Saga provide multiple avenues for getting Wanda back on the board in the MCU. In fact, a lot of fans have been wondering if Agatha All Along is going to end up putting Scarlet Witch back into the main universe at the end. After all, The Witches’ Road leads those who can survive its trials to their greatest desire. Could it be that one of these magical ladies and their companion will be looking for The Scarlet Witch? It’s not exactly unlikely.
Agatha All Along Trailers Have Been Pushing Wanda References
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice the intriguing hints towards the Scarlet Witch in all the sneak peeks for Agatha’s new series. The initial trailer for the Disney+ show unveiled an enigmatic corpse labeled “W. Maximoff,” confirming that this spinoff is indeed a follow-up to WandaVision. Marvel Studios is well aware of Wanda’s immense popularity among fans, and it seems they’re eager to satisfy our hunger for more of the fan-favorite character. Moreover, one of the most captivating aspects of WandaVision was Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha Harkness, the nosy neighbor who evolved into a sinister antagonist. Given that Marvel Studios has announced several titles, it’s reasonable to assume that Agatha All Along is where we might see Elizabeth Olsen reprise her role as the Scarlet Witch, an appearance fans would surely welcome in Avengers: Doomsday.
In the TV series Agatha All Along, the appearance of the Witches’ Road sparked curiosity on the internet following an interview with Olsen in 2022 by ComicBook. Olsen mentioned that the comics storyline was something she desired for a future Wanda Maximoff narrative. Given its prominence in Agatha All Along, this could raise suspicions. Additionally, there’s also buzz on social media about Joe Locke’s character. Many fans speculate that he might be an aged-up version of Wanda’s son Billy, a theory yet to be confirmed by Marvel. Elsa stated that fans often come up with the most creative suggestions about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and she admits she’s unsure where the story will progress or what constraints are in place for the MCU since she isn’t privy to their future plans. She added, ‘It seems like fans always have an inkling of what’s coming up, even before official announcements.’ As a result, she is clueless. However, she has a mental picture… There are certain scenes in my mind that I believe stem from ‘Witches Road,’ depicting her character aging and decaying while harnessing her power. This older woman, who’s aging due to her power, intrigues me. I’m not exactly sure what it implies, but I’d be keen on exploring this concept if given the opportunity.
Darkhold Appearance In The Latest Agatha TV Spots
This one is a big factor, if the Darkhold is here, we’re grappling with not only the developments from WandaVision. But, also Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well. Scarlet Witch stole the evil book from Agatha at the end of her Disney+ show. It’s malignant influence corrupted Wanda and sent her on the homicidal spree we saw in Doctor Strange 2. In the closing frame of that film, Olsen’s hero destroyed the Darkhold and it ended up killing her. But, if the book is back in Agatha All Along, could we be seeing Scarlet Witch as well?
Pondering over where Agatha obtained the Darkhold, hinted in the trailer, raises questions about her motives towards Billy and Tommy Maximoff in WandaVision. If young actor Joe Locke’s character “Teen” turns out to be Billy, it would explain his search for his mother. An intriguing detail from the second trailer is that he can’t pronounce his real name due to a mysterious cursive M appearing on his mouth. Any reference to “Mephisto” could imply Wanda and magic in the storyline.
It’s possible for an actual devil to persuade a boy to give up something valuable in order to obtain what he desires. When ComicBook questioned Hahn and Locke about whether Elizabeth Olsen would appear in Agatha All Along, they denied it. However, given all the hints that seem to point towards her return, fans are convinced it will happen eventually.
Hahn started off by saying, “I haven’t confirmed if she’s aware or not, but we exchanged texts yesterday. I told her I couldn’t stop thinking about her and expressed my love because she made such a wonderful first impression. It was heartwarming to establish a bond on the eve of all the media attention. However, I’m unsure if she’s aware of this exchange. I’m also uncertain about what she knows regarding the show.
