I’ve just come across a tantalizing post on McDonald’s Japan’s social media platforms, suggesting a potential collaboration with the popular series, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The image they’ve shared is intriguing, with the ominous Japanese text from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure emblazoned in the center of a desert landscape that resembles American deserts. The text is surrounded by an ominous circular shadow, hinting at something foreboding. This desert setting aligns with the backdrop of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s Seventh Part, Steel Ball Run. Notably, David Production, the studio responsible for the anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, has recently announced that they will be adapting Steel Ball Run into an anime.
The image of a desert is shared on McDonald’s Japan’s social media, accompanied by words that roughly mean “What’s next?” However, the company hasn’t explicitly explained what this post hints at. Given McDonald’s Japan’s history of collaborating with anime series, it seems they might be teasing a new partnership with another franchise. A collaboration with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, especially considering the recent announcement of Steel Ball Run, would be a strategic move for both promoting the upcoming anime and delighting fans with possible new menu items or toys.

Japanese McDonald’s Gets All The Great Anime Collaborations
McDonald’s Japan has teamed up with popular anime series like “Yu-Gi-Oh” and “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” In these partnerships, they have offered unique Happy Meal toys based on the anime shows or temporary meal options for fans to enjoy. For instance, during their collaboration with Hello Kitty, McDonald’s gave away plushies of Yu-Gi-Oh monsters dressed as Hello Kitty characters. To promote their Evangelion partnership, they released an exclusive animation and introduced a transforming Evangelion toy. Additionally, for a limited period, they sold a special Hatsune Miku Shakashaka Potatoes at their Japanese restaurants. The name “Shakashaka” comes from the sound customers make while shaking the bag to mix french fries with flavored powder inside, creating a unique taste.
The popular series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure originally categorized as shonen but later classified as seinen, is divided into several sections. Each section focuses on a distinct Joestar family member, with each subsequent section highlighting the next generation of Joestars. In the manga, the Seventh Part, Steel Ball Run, takes an unusual turn by moving backward in time and into an alternate reality. The story revolves around two horseback racers from the late 1800s: Johnny Joestar and his companion Gyro. They embark on a cross-country race in America, only to find themselves entangled in a sinister plot orchestrated by the U.S. President.
