In the recent instalments of the Elbaf Arc, One Piece has taken a significant shift as Luffy and Zoro manage to release Loki from his restraints. Known as the “Cursed Prince of Elbaf,” Loki is a figure who has been malevolent since his early years. The people of his tribe have despised him ever since he was a child, due to his knack for causing chaos among villagers. However, their patience finally wore thin when he brutally murdered their revered king Harald, approximately 14 years ago. Loki then fled the kingdom and wandered aimlessly for six years before being discovered by Shanks. His powers are immense, as no one prior to Shanks had been able to subdue such a powerful Giant Prince.
Six years ago, he was condemned to endure crucifixion, but at last, he’s been released. Moreover, the Sacred Order of Knights has embarked on a campaign against Elbaf, the legendary realm of giants, renowned as the most powerful nation globally. For centuries, the World Government has coveted their power, and now Shamrock is spearheading the operation to overthrow them. It’s no surprise they are employing sneaky maneuvers. As for Loki, who is currently being depicted as a malefactor, there’s speculation he may ultimately prove to be Elbaf’s liberator.
One Piece’s Loki Already Knew About the Recent Threat to Elbaf
Prior to the Holy Knights assaulting Elbaf, Shamrock and Gunko attempted to enlist Loki. The World Government has always known about Loki’s immense power, which is why Shamrock was quick to propose a position among the Holy Knights for him. Despite the fact that members are typically only World Nobles, an exception was made. However, Loki scornfully rejects the Holy Knights and their offer, causing Gunko to slay a wolf from the Underworld that was trying to shield Loki.
After that, she mercilessly torments the prince, fully aware he cannot retaliate or protect himself against her. Onlooker Shamrock perceives this futility and chooses not to compel Loki to join them. Instead, he departs with Gunko. Subsequently, he resolves to target the offspring. In Chapter 1142, Killingham initiates the assault as instructed by Shamrock. The Holy Knights surprise Elbaf, clearly gaining the advantage now.
In the world of One Piece, the Holy Knights resort to sneaky tactics when they unexpectedly attack the Giants. Only Loki, apart from the Holy Knights, was aware that the nation was in peril. In Chapter 1142, he appears to be playing his role and attacking recklessly. Yet, he seems to be in a rush and advises the crew to release him from his shackles if they want to save Elbaf. The exact limits of Loki’s power remain unclear, but the recent chapter showcases him wielding his hammer, Ragnir, and summoning colossal bolts of lightning from the sky, which strike whatever the tree.
In Chapter 1141, Ripley pointed out that Elbaf’s main vulnerabilities are fire and thunder, and Loki has control over one of these devastating forces. Yet, it seems Loki isn’t intentionally causing harm to individuals. With the Giants, including Loki, having a mutual adversary in the Holy Knights, his immense powers could prove more beneficial than any other factor if he were to align with the Giants.
King Harald’s Death May Have Been a Big Conspiracy
The details surrounding Harald’s demise remain shrouded in mystery, with only the fact that Loki has been identified as the murderer being certain. Adored by his people and renowned as their mighty ruler, Harald was also a champion of peace, endeavoring to establish trade links with distant lands and foster amicable ties. Elbaf, secluded for centuries, is not as technologically advanced due to its isolation. Education and formal schools were only recently introduced within its borders under the reign of King Harald. The narrative of the series, however, has yet to disclose events leading up to his passing. Some speculate that Harald was involved in dealings with the World Government, while others question Loki’s guilt in this matter.
In Chapter 1137 of One Piece, it appears that Jarul was lying when he claimed he was hit on the head by Loki, as suggested by his typical deceptive expression in the series. This is further supported by the presence of significant claw marks in the Throne Room, a location known to the Holy Knights despite being secretive information for outsiders. As the Cursed Prince has now been freed, it’s expected that the manga will soon unveil more about his past as the struggle against the Holy Knights unfolds.
