Fans continue to express anticipation for another season of Moon Knight, yet recent information shared by Marvel’s TV chief suggests that these wishes may not be coming true anytime soon.
However, not all is lost, as Moon Knight will rise again in another form.
Brad Winderbaum explained to ComicBook that he believes the development of Marvel Television unfolded in stages, with Moon Knight being part of a group of series designed to introduce characters who would be integral to future storylines.
In the future, our focus has changed. We’re aiming to produce series that can be released annually, similar to television programming. While I’d be thrilled about a second season of Moon Knight, there are strategic plans for Moon Knight in the pipeline.
Will Moon Knight be back for season 2?
Disney has only officially greenlit Moon Knight as a limited series, implying that there might not be a second season.
Additionally, Winderbaum’s latest remarks (previously mentioned) lend credence to this idea, suggesting that the character of Moon Knight may not have made its final appearance yet.
“You know, I think we approached it as ‘this is the story’,” Isaac said.

Let’s lay all our cards about this tale open. There are currently no set plans for its continuation. However, the possibility of it continuing might hinge on the nature of the story itself.
In other words, the post-credit scene for Moon Knight revealed Jake Lockley, one of the three main personas of Moon Knight, suggesting that Marvel plans to delve deeper into the character and expand the Moon Knight narrative in future installments.
If our show gets renewed for a second season, it’s probable that the next episode won’t arrive until at least two years have passed.
Which of the Moon Knight cast could return for a potential season 2?
Potential returning Moon Knight cast members include:
- Oscar Issac as Moon Knight/Mr Knight/Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley
- May Calamawy as Scarlet Scarab/Layla El-Faouly
- F Murray Abraham as Khonshu
Previously, Oscar Isaac shared with Variety that his agreement with Marvel Studios concludes following the completion of Moon Knight’s six episodes. As such, he is not bound by any commitments to reappear in future Marvel productions.
He declared his enthusiasm by saying, “I truly cherish being myself, Steven. I can’t help but enjoy it immensely. It feels incredibly exhilarating on a physical level.
“So, you know, if there was a story that really made sense, I’d be happy to be part of it.”

Isaac’s fellow actors shared similar thoughts, as Ethan Hawke (the character Arthur Harrow) and May Calamawy (Layla El-Faouly) neither dismissed nor confirmed the possibility of their characters appearing again in the series.
“I’ve not heard anything,” Calamawy said. “So if there [are plans], I’m yet to hear.
“If there were, I would, yeah, I’d consider returning. Of course.”
Hawke commented: “Is it enjoyable to portray a single character over extended periods? Many actors find it challenging. However, should your performance be satisfying audiences, your perspective might shift.
Although Harrow meets his end in the post-credit sequence, it seems unlikely he’ll reappear, yet there’s always a slim chance he might make a comeback.
What could happen in Moon Knight season 2? Plot speculation

There’s no word yet on plot details for a Moon Knight’s future going foeward.
It’s quite possible that we may see Jake Lockley, a significant Moon Knight character, taking on a crucial part in the potential continuation of the series.
As a devoted fan, I find it quite surprising that they’d introduce a new character, a third persona, right at the end of the season, only to leave their backstory unexplored in subsequent episodes. It feels like a missed opportunity for deeper character development.
If a second season isn’t produced, and instead Moon Knight makes appearances in other Marvel Cinematic Universe tales, there’s no doubt that we could envision some major cross-overs in the MCU.
In an interview with IndieWire conducted in March 2022, Moon Knight’s director, Mohamed Diab, imagined dialogue between the show’s main character and other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters.
Diab expressed that the dynamic between Marc and Steven in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite intriguing. He mentioned an instance where Marc appears to be entirely serious, only to transform into Steven, or Moon Knight changing into Mr. Knight. According to him, such unpredictability could make for a truly captivating spectacle.
