Is Star Wars Outlaws on Steam?

As a seasoned researcher who has spent countless hours navigating the labyrinth of digital gaming platforms, I can confidently say that the absence of Star Wars Outlaws on Steam at launch is a common occurrence among Ubisoft titles. Over the years, I’ve seen many games from this publisher make their way to Valve’s platform after initial release on other platforms like Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store.

Star Wars Outlaws won’t debut on Steam on August 30th. Nevertheless, there’s a strong possibility it may arrive on Valve’s PC gaming platform later, given that numerous recent Ubisoft games have appeared there several months following their launch on Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store.

Is Star Wars Outlaws coming to Steam?

Given that the game will be available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, it’s natural that many players are curious about whether they can experience Kay Vess’ journey through Steam. After all, Steam, Valve’s gaming platform, is the largest in the world, boasting over 132 million monthly active users. With its long-standing history of over 20 years, numerous popular community features, and regular deals, Steam has become the go-to marketplace for most PC gamers.

Regrettably, enthusiasts looking forward to playing Star Wars Outlaws on Steam at launch may be let down. Similar to many contemporary games produced and distributed by Ubisoft, it’s set to debut on both Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store simultaneously. Additionally, you can choose to enjoy the game via Ubisoft+, a service resembling Xbox Game Pass, which grants access to day one Ubisoft games on both Xbox and PC with a Premium subscription (you’ll even get three days of early access since Ubisoft+ offers early access to the Ultimate Edition).

Will Star Wars Outlaws come to Steam?

Is Star Wars Outlaws coming to Steam?

As a researcher, I’m speculating about the potential future availability of Star Wars Outlaws on Valve’s storefront, even though it won’t be there at launch. Given Ubisoft’s recent trends in game releases, where many titles eventually appear on Steam after their initial release, the likelihood of Star Wars Outlaws following a similar path seems quite high to me. However, it’s important to note that this is merely speculation and nothing is certain until an official announcement is made.

As a tech enthusiast, let me share my experience. In 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was initially launched, but it wasn’t until 2022 that I could play it on Steam. Other remarkable titles worth mentioning include The Crew Motorfest, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Interestingly, Skull and Bones and another game, Prince of Persia, hit Steam shelves this August, although they were initially released in 2024 earlier in the year.

It seems that Star Wars Outlaws might not arrive on Steam anytime soon, if at all. A similar scenario unfolded with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which took two years to become available on the platform. As of now, Assassin’s Creed Mirage for 2023 hasn’t been announced as a Steam title either. Given these circumstances, it appears Ubisoft is focusing on maximizing its userbase for Ubisoft Connect and subscribers for Ubisoft+ by capitalizing on its most prominent franchises like Star Wars, making it a priority over other titles.

It’s merely conjecture at this point, but there’s a possibility that Star Wars Outlaws could debut on Steam within the next six months. This assumption is based on the game’s potential underperformance in initial PC sales. However, until more information becomes available, it seems unlikely that the open-world RPG will be launched on Valve’s storefront anytime soon.

Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC via Ubisoft Connect, and PS5 on August 30, 2024. This game appears to be among the top contenders for both the best Xbox games and best PC games of the year. If you’re using an Xbox or a PC, you can even subscribe to Ubisoft+ Premium to gain access to it.
