Is the CCXP Superman Poster Official? James Gunn Responds

As a lifelong DC fan and someone who has been following the development of Superman since the rumors first started swirling, I must admit that my anticipation for this film is reaching epic proportions. The hype surrounding CCXP is palpable, with fans eagerly waiting for any morsel of information about our favorite Kryptonian.

The CCXP is nearly upon us, and pop culture enthusiasts everywhere are buzzing with excitement, but especially so for DC fans. With “Superman” set to grace the silver screen next July, there’s a strong possibility that a sneak peek at the movie might debut at this event. This anticipation grew even more fervent this week when comic book artist George Quadros shared a poster for “Superman,” featuring David Corenswet stopping a speeding train on social media. Many fans believed it to be an official film poster, but James Gunn has since clarified the matter.

In a social media post, a fan inquired if the image on Threads was an official one and who created it. Gunn identified George Quadros as the artist, yet clarified that while the artwork was cool, it wasn’t officially related to the film. However, when another fan asked about official posters, Gunn hinted that some official Superman posters were already prepared.

When Will We Get a Superman Trailer?

Although the lack of a CCXP poster announcement is a bit underwhelming, it doesn’t necessarily rule out exciting news for fans at CCXP. Back in October, fans on social media were buzzing with speculation that the first official Superman trailer might make its debut at CCXP. When someone asked if there would be a teaser or trailer before the end of the year, Gunn simply responded with a thoughtful emoji. However, Gunn also recently clarified that a major rumor about the trailer wasn’t entirely accurate. The rumor suggested that the studio requested multiple versions to select the “best,” but according to Gunn, this is only partially true because in this case, he himself serves as the “studio.

In simpler terms, Gunn clarified that when he mentions ‘studio’, he’s referring to himself, as DC Studios is the only one responsible for cutting or any work related to the trailer. Essentially, he and Peter collaborate on this, with him taking a more creative lead. This process of rigorously working on trailers, pushing marketing teams to their limits, and refining until satisfactory, is similar to how he’s handled every Guardians trailer. However, his suggestions for improvement are more detailed than just ‘make it better’.

As for when we can expect the Superman trailer to surface, it remains a mystery at this point. Previously, Gunn hinted that Brazil is important, yet he won’t be able to attend CCXP due to scheduling issues. For now, fans should stay vigilant and keep their eyes peeled for any updates related to Superman – it might just take off anytime soon.

Superman will open in theaters on July 11, 2025.
