Is This New Music Manga the Next Your Lie in April?

I’m privy to one of the upcoming additions to the esteemed line-up of Weekly Shonen Jump, titled “B no Seisen.” As of now, its English title remains untranslated and its details are scant. However, the confidence in this series from Shueisha and Shonen Jump is evident, as they’ve chosen it to adorn the cover of their 11/2025 issue. This issue is set for release on February 10, but remarkably, a sneak peek at its cover has already been shared. The cover image showcases a young piano virtuoso with Beethoven’s spirit lurking nearby, reminiscent of Stand Abilities from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. This prodigious pianist is expected to be the focal point of “B no Seisen.

In the anime titled “B no Seisen“, the main character sports an unruly hairstyle akin to those in “Yu-Gi-Oh“. The storyline, although sparse, centers around a pianist aiming for a comeback and craving the limelight once more. It’s uncertain if the series will incorporate supernatural powers or abilities, or if the cover of “Weekly Shonen Jump” magazine depicting the protagonist playing the piano is merely symbolic. There’s a chance that the character might not actually summon Beethoven’s spirit but may be figuratively tapping into his genius as he plays the piano.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve got my hands on the latest Weekly Shonen Jump issue 11/2025! The cover story is “B no Seisen” by Hayashi Morihiro, which takes us back into the spotlight of a prodigious pianist’s life…

Can B no Seisen be the next Your Lie in April?

Representing music in purely visual formats like comics or manga can be exceptionally challenging due to the absence of auditory cues within the story. Since readers can’t hear the actual music, creators must devise alternative methods to portray sound and melody. Merely depicting characters holding instruments on a page wouldn’t evoke emotions nor fully convey the intended scene. As such, writers and artists must strive to find creative ways to visualize the music so that the intended pathos can resonate with readers.

The manga titled “Your Lie in April” garnered acclaim for its stunning representation of music. According to Anime News Network, renowned mangaka Eiichiro Oda, creator of “One Piece“, was envious of the series because he felt it masterfully conveys music.

Following the conclusion of “Your Lie in April”, several manga series centered around the piano have tried to fill its void. One such series is “PPPPPP”, a manga that ran from 2021 to 2023 and followed the story of a pianist striving to surpass his more accomplished siblings before their mother passed away within a year. Now, the focus on piano-themed stories has shifted to “B no Seisen”. More details about this series will be shared once the first chapter is released.
