Isabella Strahan Grateful to Be Walking & Talking After Cancer Battle

Oh dear, it breaks my heart to read about Isabella’s journey. She’s been through so much at such a young age, and yet, she faces each challenge with unwavering resilience. Her spirit is truly inspiring!

Isabella Strahan is embracing a new chapter.

20-year-old daughter of “Good Morning America” host Michael Strahan joyfully marked her restored ability to move again, following her cancer struggle in the year 2023.

In a recent interview with Town and Country, published on October 29th, Isabella shared that she has experienced significant personal growth. She expressed deep gratitude for being able to walk and talk again, as one tends to take such abilities for granted until they are lost.

In October 2023, Isabella was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a severe type of brain tumor. This led to treatments such as chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. Unfortunately, these treatments affected her ability to walk and talk. She’s currently battling double vision and working hard to regain the weight she lost due to her illness. Despite all this, Isabella remains optimistic.

Isabella expressed her relief, saying, “My doctors believe the condition won’t return, which is incredibly comforting.” She continued with a smile, “Being here feels good. This year has taught me resilience. It’s the people in your life that truly make it worthwhile. Now I don’t turn down opportunities. I don’t think ‘I’ll do it later.’ You never know what tomorrow might bring.

Isabella’s diagnosis and journey put things in perspective for her father as well.

In simpler terms, the ex-NFL star expressed that despite being a tight-knit family, this past year provided him with a fresh outlook. He emphasized that what truly matters is cherishing one’s children, family members (including parents), loved ones, and friends, holding them dear every day. Unlike before, he now cherishes each day more than planning for the future, be it next week, month, or year.

Isabella proudly showed off her family’s affection as she and twin sister Sophie Strahan turned 20, sharing the special day with their dad Jean Muggli and mom at Disneyland.

On October 28th, Isabella posted a TikTok video where herself and her companions donned Mickey Mouse hats while traveling in a limousine towards the most joyful destination – Disney World.

While cruising with her squad, Isabella proudly sang, “It’s my birthday!”

Isabella Strahan, the child born to the previous pairing of Michael Strahan and Jean Muggli, mentioned that she didn’t detect any signs of health issues until around early October 2023, as she began to suffer from persistent headaches and feelings of nausea.

One day, after vomiting blood, she was persuaded by her father to undergo a comprehensive examination and an MRI scan. The findings revealed medulloblastoma, a severe type of brain tumor that typically affects young individuals.

Later that month, she underwent brain surgery to remove the mass.

In a January 2024 interview with her father and Robin Roberts from ABC News, Isabella disclosed her diagnosis.

Michael expressed his heartfelt belief that he was incredibly fortunate, as he was blessed with an exceptional daughter, stating, “In so many aspects, I feel like the most fortunate man in the world. My daughter is simply amazing.” He acknowledged her struggles but was confident, knowing that they are never given more than they can handle and that she would triumph over whatever she faced.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Isabella acknowledged the support of her twin sister, Sophia Strahan. She expressed gratitude for having such an incredible sibling and friend, stating that the past few months have been tougher than anticipated but have underscored Sophia’s strength.

Following her interview, Isabella shared she had finished her round of radiation therapy.

In a January 16 YouTube video, she expressed her great relief, stating, “After six challenging weeks, it feels fantastic to have finished! The side effects and everything took their toll, but I’m so glad I can now begin the healing process for my head.

Following radiation therapy, Isabella began undergoing chemotherapy to treat her cancer.

She expressed in her February 16th vlog that her entire mouth feels as if she had undergone a massive root canal treatment. Every tooth seems to have been uprooted without any proper reattachment, and her jaw and the bottom of her tongue are also affected. Even swallowing water causes discomfort.

Nevertheless, the teenager maintained her optimism, humorously remarking in a video shared a week afterward that her hair was now “too short.

“Besides being bald,” she said, “it doesn’t bring me pain mentally.”

Originally planned for early March, Isabella’s second round of chemotherapy was postponed due to an emergency skull surgery she underwent. In this operation, doctors removed excess fluid from her head and replaced the bone they had initially taken out with a titanium plate, causing the chemo to be delayed by several weeks.

In her March 6 vlog, she expressed her discomfort by saying, “I’ve been experiencing an unbearable amount of pain. My face has swollen significantly, which is really frustrating. Earlier today, the pain was intense and I found myself crying out in agony.

In a thoughtful gesture, Isabella’s father, Michael, managed to get Bryson Tiller, the singer she adores, to visit their residence in New York City during her treatment sessions, aiming to lift her spirits.

Michael playfully remarked, “It seems like you haven’t been very active these past few months!” during your vlog about our visit. “You’re acting like a superfan right now.

In a video posted on March 21, Isabella announced that she had begun her second series of chemotherapy treatments, which meant that only four more sessions remained for her.

Amid her second chemotherapy round, Isabella said she began experiencing difficulties in walking.

She mentioned in her blog on March 27th that she finds it difficult to walk without feeling dizzy or short of breath. Regrettably, she said there is no ‘exhaustion antidote’ medication she can take.

As a devoted follower, I’m thrilled to share some fantastic news! My beloved YouTuber, who’s been bravely battling through her health journey, recently announced an encouraging update after completing her second round of chemotherapy. The good news is, she’ll now only require two more sessions instead of the initially planned four. What a relief and a testament to her strength!

She expressed in a video posted on the 10th of April, “These are tears of joy,” she stated. It implies that they weren’t really tears of sadness, but rather tears brought about by happiness.

Initially, Isabella encountered an unexpected challenge during her treatment journey as she needed a third operation on her skull (craniotomy). The teenager described this operation as a significantly different experience compared to her previous ones.

She explained in her April 12 vlog that she has been shedding many tears lately. She went on to share that they inserted a needle into her three times to drain fluid, all while she was fully conscious. Thus, her first ever surgery where she remained awake throughout the entire procedure.
