Isabella Strahan Shows Off 7-Month Hair Growth After Cancer Journey

As a compassionate observer, I find myself deeply moved by Isabella’s resilience and courage in the face of her health challenges. Her journey is a testament to human spirit and determination. The way she navigates through each treatment, each surgery, and each setback with grace and humor is truly inspiring.

Isabella Strahan is celebrating her progress.

Michael Strahan’s 20-year-old daughter recently posted an update on her hair growth progress following cancer treatment, displaying the development she’s made during the last seven months in a video she uploaded to TikTok on November 14th.

In the video, playing the track “We Can’t Be Friends” by Ariana Grande, a student from the University of Southern California is seen singing along to the words “I just want this tale to end” while bald. Then, it switches to more current footage of her with hair growth as she continues singing, “And I will be fine.

Isabella captioned the post, “7 months ago vs now #slay #cancer #survivor.”

The encouraging update comes just a few weeks after she celebrated her and twin sister Sophia Strahan‘s 20th birthday alongside their Good Morning America anchor father—who shares his daughters with ex Jean Muggli—with a trip to Disneyland Oct. 26.

The celebration also came one year after Isabella was diagnosed with brain cancer, a milestone she pointed out on social media.

365 days have passed since my life underwent a significant transformation, as expressed in an Instagram post accompanying a picture taken in the hospital last autumn. Grateful for the advancements I’ve achieved during this time.

Additionally, she has shared insights on how her health struggle has allowed her to see things more clearly and understand their importance.

She shared with Town & Country last month that she’s noticed significant growth in various aspects. She expressed profound gratitude for being able to walk and talk once more, as it’s only when these abilities are absent that one truly appreciates their value.

Last October, Isabella was forced to depart from USC only a few months into her freshman year, following her diagnosis with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. Since then, she’s endured an initial emergency surgery, followed by six weeks of radiation therapy, four rounds of chemotherapy, and three subsequent brain operations.

In July, Isabella, who had been sharing her cancer experience online, declared that she was now free from cancer.

She expressed that the recent MRI scan was exceptional, as stated in her July 18 YouTube video titled “Goodbye Hospital”. The results showed no signs of cancer, and overall, everything looks good.

Isabella Strahan, the child of the previous pair Michael Strahan and Jean Muggli, didn’t sense anything unusual about her health until around early October 2023, when she began having persistent headaches and feelings of sickness.

One day, after vomiting blood, she was persuaded by her father to undergo a thorough examination and an MRI scan. The findings revealed a medulloblastoma, a dangerous type of brain tumor that typically affects kids.

Later that month, she underwent brain surgery to remove the mass.

In an interview with my father and Robin Roberts at ABC News in January 2024, I chose to share my personal health journey and diagnosis openly.

At one point, Michael expressed his belief saying, “In many aspects, I truly feel like the most fortunate man on earth, for having an extraordinary daughter.” He acknowledged her struggles, yet remained optimistic, confidently stating, “I trust that we’re not given more than we can manage and that she will overcome this challenge triumphantly.

Apart from Isabella, even Sophia Strahan, her twin sister, extended her support. She expressed this on Instagram by saying, “I am incredibly fortunate to have a sister who is not only my sibling but also my best friend. The past few months have been tougher than we could have ever foreseen, yet they’ve shown me how resilient you truly are.

Following her interview, Isabella shared she had finished her round of radiation therapy.

In her January 16 YouTube video, she expressed her great relief, having completed a challenging six-week period. She’s overjoyed to finally start recovering from the ordeal, as the side effects and other aspects took a toll on her.

Following radiation therapy, Isabella began undergoing chemotherapy to treat her cancer.

She described her discomfort as if her entire mouth had undergone one massive root canal treatment. Every tooth seemed to have been forcefully extracted without proper reimplantation, and even though it wasn’t a surgical procedure, it felt like it. Her jaw and the bottom of her tongue were both aching, and swallowing water only intensified the pain.

Despite the situation, the teenager maintained her cheerfulness, humorously mentioning in a video shared a week afterwards that her hair was now “too short.

“Besides being bald,” she said, “it doesn’t bring me pain mentally.”

Initially planned for early March, Isabella’s second round of chemotherapy was postponed due to an emergency skull surgery she underwent. In this procedure, doctors removed excess fluid from her head and replaced the bone they had initially taken out with a titanium plate, which caused the delay in her chemotherapy by several weeks.

In her vlog on March 6th, she expressed, “I’m experiencing intense discomfort,” or more casually, “I’m really hurting.” She added, “My face is swollen significantly and this is frustrating.” Earlier in the day, she had been in such pain that she exclaimed aloud.

In a thoughtful gesture to lift up Isabella during her treatment, her father, Michael, managed to bring Bryson Tiller, a singer she admires, to their residence in New York City.

Michael teased his daughter, saying, “It seems like it’s been ages since you last changed your spot!” during her vlog about their meeting. “You’re absolutely starstruck at the moment.

In a video posted on March 21st, I shared that I’ve commenced my second cycle of chemotherapy. That means I only have four more sessions left to complete this treatment course.

Amid her second chemotherapy round, Isabella said she began experiencing difficulties in walking.

She expressed on her March 27 vlog that she finds it difficult to walk without feeling dizzy or short of breath, and regretted that there is no medication available to alleviate exhaustion.

After completing her second round of chemotherapy, the YouTuber shared some encouraging news – she now needs to go through just two more rounds instead of the initially planned four.

In the video shared on April 10, she expressed, “These are joyful tears, you know, not the kind that come from sadness but happiness.

Initially, Isabella encountered an unexpected obstacle during her treatment journey as she was required to go through a third operation on her skull (craniotomy). The teenager described this surgery as being significantly different from her previous experiences.

She confessed in her April 12 vlog that she’s been shedding quite a few tears recently. She went on to explain that they inserted a needle into her three times to drain fluid, all while she remained wide-awake. This was her first surgery where she was fully conscious during the procedure.
