In recent times, it’s been quite challenging to purchase and play the initial games in EA’s The Sims series. However, this might soon become a thing of the past. As reported by Kotaku and hinted at by EA themselves, remasters of The Sims 1 and 2 are expected to launch on PC, providing fans with an easy way to revisit these timeless classics as the franchise reaches its 25th anniversary.
It seems the games might only be playable on computers for now, and it remains uncertain if they’ll come to gaming consoles as well. While it’s a bit unlikely, it’s still possible, just not very probable.
Since 2003, The Sims has appeared in various console formats, with a version of the original game launched for PlayStation 2 that year. While this console adaptation differed significantly from the beloved PC version, many essential elements were preserved.
PS2 and PSP versions of The Sims 2 emerged in 2005, again somewhat different from the original.
On consoles, The Sims 4 is more akin to its PC counterpart compared to how previous console versions relate to their own games, yet it still boasts a dedicated fanbase.
Essentially, The Sims has been a fixture on consoles for almost the same duration it’s been on PC, although the console versions haven’t always mirrored the PC ones. It’s plausible that The Sims 1 and 2 could make an appearance on PS5, and if they do, we expect them to function identically as they do on PC.
Although primarily a PC game series, The Sims might be adapted for consoles at some point in the future, but there’s also a possibility that such a port will never materialize.
