Three years ago, it felt like countless games were being turned into movies or TV shows. One of these adaptations was for the highly successful cooperative game It Takes Two by Hazelight Studios. However, since its association with Amazon and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was announced, there has been no news about it. As per studio head Josef Fares, there is currently no development on this project.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Fares expressed his honest opinion in his characteristic straightforward manner: “Hollywood is filled with nonsense. I believe that 90% of meetings are just nonsense, while only 10% reflects reality.” Despite this, Fares remains enthusiastic about the project. However, the slow progress must be disheartening for him. Continuing his critique, Fares criticized Hollywood’s lethargic approach to business dealings:

The situation is that there’s a lot of discussion going around, but not much action being taken. Frankly, I’m unsure about the details. However, it would be great if something positive comes out of it. Yet, my expectations aren’t too high at this point. What’s clear is that we need individuals who can deliver results. If I were deeply involved in it, things would start moving. All I need is a couple of months in Los Angeles, and I’d turn things around. Regrettably, I don’t have the time right now, but if given the chance, I’d make things happen – that’s my role.
