As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of digital adventures under my belt, I must confess that my heart skipped a beat upon hearing about Thomas and Friends gracing the rails of Train Sim World 5. Growing up, I was never one to shy away from the magical tales of Sodor and its beloved steam engines. The thought of revisiting those nostalgic tracks while navigating the digital world is beyond exciting!
It’s hard to imagine enjoying Train Sim World 5 without Thomas and Friends. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t something we had previously envisioned, but the developers at Dovetail are planning to incorporate the Mattel franchise in the upcoming edition for the new year.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that an add-on pack with a twist is coming your way! Instead of the usual journey, you’ll embark on a narrative adventure starring none other than Thomas, Diesel, and the Troublesome Trucks. Although it retains the on-rails format, expect a fresh spin to your adventure if you choose to purchase this pack.
In the video interview that follows, Ian McCue, a top creative executive producer at Mattel, discusses some aspects of his work on Thomas and Friends. Meanwhile, Matt Peddlesden, the executive producer of Train Sim World, offers insights into anticipated updates.
