It’s Too Early to Tell if Larian Will bring Back Divinity Franchise – Publishing Director

Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has subtly hinted at a possible return to their older Divinity series. This suggestion was noticed by GamesRadar as Larian’s social media account on platform X briefly changed its name to Divinity, then reverted back to Larian Studios this week.

Michael Douse, the publishing director, has stated that it’s still uncertain whether we will get a third game in the Divinity: Original Sin series, as he mentioned, “It’s too early to tell.” In response to a social media post speculating about the name change being a hint, he replied with a playful tone, saying, “Indeed, it’s too early to tell.” He further added, “We have many projects in progress. We’ll see where our culinary endeavors lead us and when we can share the results.

In a more detailed discussion, Douse mentioned that they’re presently sorting through their intellectual properties (IPs), including social media accounts that could be linked to these studio-owned IPs. “This step is essential for us to inventory our possessions and clearly identify what we own and haven’t claimed regarding our IPs,” said Douse. “It appears managing the social media handles associated with your own IPs can help protect the brand from misuse, such as preventing impostors or scammers.

He mentioned that Twitter moved some details over to them, but surprisingly substituted one for the Divinity account belonging to Larian Studios. He found it less thrilling, as they were still hard at work on several projects without any imminent announcements. Even late at night while he was watching “1923” on Paramount+, there was no expectation of any big news. However, if someone is addressed by a Larian-related account in the future, it would be them, albeit playfully scamming instead of someone else.

Although Larian Studios hasn’t disclosed any specifics about their upcoming game, it’s clear that it won’t be a sequel to Baldur’s Gate 3. Back in April, CEO Swen Vincke mentioned that the team is heavily involved in creating a highly ambitious new project, which they are currently developing.

Vincke shared that the studio is heavily engaged in developing their upcoming project, describing it as a challenging yet exciting venture. He mentioned that the project has been taking shape quite effectively, but its scope is incredibly ambitious. With all the innovative possibilities available today, he emphasized that the task at hand is intricate and multifaceted. To complicate matters further, the studio is currently exploring the possibility of working on not one, but two games simultaneously.

One intriguing point Vincke made about managing Larian Studios was the difficulty involved, particularly in terms of organizational and logistical aspects.

He clarified that coordinating our efforts for not just one, but two projects can be quite challenging. The games we create are intricate with numerous possibilities and player control, making it difficult to estimate completion timelines. Adding another project into the mix makes it even more complex. So, we’re staying very busy indeed.

Previously, the studio released the highly praised game “Baldur’s Gate 3,” which can be played on computers, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. For a comprehensive look at
