If you’re more comfortable with vertical mice, consider the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, which offers a comparable feature set and has received my recommendation. Pro Click V2 review: What I like
The Pro Click V2 bears a strong resemblance to Razer products, yet it differs significantly from their usual mouse designs, primarily because of its emphasis on ergonomics. Instead of being named after the snake symbol that Razer often uses for its other mice, it carries the “Pro Click” branding instead.
This mouse boasts a highly ergonomic design, featuring a slanted top that molds perfectly to your hand, a well-positioned thumb rest, and a textured finish on either side for a firm grip.
With the Pro Click V2, Razer hasn’t introduced a groundbreaking design; instead, they’ve built upon decades of research into creating ergonomic mouse shapes, contours, and structures. However, Razer brings a unique twist to this established formula with their own innovative approach.
The build quality is exceptional, offering satisfyingly tactile and reactive buttons, a textured scroll wheel that clicks distinctly, tilt functionality, and a rotational-free mode. It also boasts a cozy compartment for the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless transmitter and features understated metallic highlights.
The Pro Click V2’s gaming background is hinted through the illuminated 14-zones of Razer Chroma light along its base. This lighting is visually stunning but not overly so, and it can be virtually unnoticeable if you decide to turn it off.
In addition to its RGB lighting, the Pro Click V2 can hold its own against top-tier gaming mice for various reasons as well.
Although focusing on productivity and comfort, the Pro Click V2 excels in performance due to one of Razer’s proven optical sensors, expansive and virtually frictionless PFTE glides, and dependable wireless communication.
The design is accurate, seamless, uniform, and has a slight flexibility to suit various hand grips.
With the Pro Click V2 mouse, you can effortlessly transition between multiple devices. It supports up to five connections, including one through Razer HyperSpeed 2.4GHz technology, three via Bluetooth, and one wired connection. It’s refreshing to find that Bluetooth functionality, commonly omitted in gaming mice, is included here.
The Pro Click V2 has a good battery life that allows it to last for weeks without charging, so you won’t have to fret too much about running out of power.
Ultimately, you may choose to set up Razer Synapse for access to extra features on your Pro Click V2, such as per-app profiles, the ability to reprogram buttons, unlimited shortcuts with Razer HyperShift support, fundamental DPI and polling rate adjustments, and more.
Similar to the Vertical Edition, the Pro Click V2 mouse incorporates Razer’s latest AI Prompt Master technology. This feature allows you quick access to basic ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot AI functions simply by holding down the scroll wheel for a longer period of time. It’s a useful addition for some users, while others might not find it particularly relevant.
Pro Click V2 review: What I don’t like
Razer mostly nailed it with the Pro Click V2, but I think they could have made more strides in the “productivity” aspect. An additional programmable button or two would have been beneficial, as well as a dedicated manual switch button for profile changes (instead of relying on Synapse software to handle that).
The Logitech MX Master 3S I assessed serves as both a significant influence and formidable rival for this mouse design, and one of the aspects that make the renowned Logitech mouse so cherished is its horizontal scroll wheel and outstanding software. Razer could have taken it a step further in this aspect.
I’m really pleased that the Pro Click V2 mouse boasts Razer’s terrific HyperScroll Tilt Wheel, a function surprisingly missing from the Vertical Edition. However, it’s important to note that this specific model does not incorporate Razer’s Smart-Reel feature, which intelligently switches between tactile and smooth scrolling based on the pressure of your scrolls, a characteristic I adore in my Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse.
It’s perfectly reasonable to propose that the Pro Click V2 might be slightly oversized. Compared to all Razer’s specialized high-performance gaming mice, it stands out as being significantly larger. This could potentially make it uncomfortable for individuals with smaller hands.
Pro Click V2 review: My final thoughts
✅You should buy this if …
- You want a comfortable, productivity-focused mouse that also games.
- You want plenty of connectivity options, like multiple Bluetooth profiles.
- You can find value in per-app profiles, a built-in AI assistant, and more.
❌You should not buy this if …
- You don’t game at all and simply want the best productivity mouse.
- You have small hands and need a more compact ergonomic mouse.
Upon trying out the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, my initial impression was that I might find the traditional (non-vertical) version more appealing, as I generally tend to favor peripherals with a more horizontal orientation. This statement does not imply any negative judgment towards the Vertical Edition; it’s just a personal preference.
Indeed, I have a strong affinity for the standard Razer Pro Click V2 Mouse. It offers incredible comfort, boasts an elegant design, delivers top-notch performance suitable for competitive multiplayer gaming, yet maintains a familiar shape and features my preferred HyperScroll Tilt Wheel.
This Pro Click V2, as I observe, seems to be meticulously designed with productivity and ergonomics in mind. On a theoretical level, it appears to be an ideal mouse for someone who works, creates, and games equally, investing extended periods of time. Indeed, from where I stand, that someone could very well be me!
I find myself drawn back to the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro we’ve previously reviewed, primarily due to its Smart-Reel and wireless charging capabilities. However, the Pro Click V2 is an outstanding wireless mouse that is definitely worth a look, especially for those seeking a gaming alternative to the Logitech MX Master.
