Jack Lowden Reveals Secrets About Playing Sauron in The Rings of Power

In the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power“, Jack Lowden took on a significant role as one of the main characters, however, due to scheduling constraints, he didn’t get to interact with any other cast members and was only present on set for a maximum of two days. Despite this limited time, Lowden portrayed Sauron in a flashback scene at the beginning of the season where it appeared that the dark lord was slain and his body annihilated. However, it’s revealed throughout the series that Sauron’s spirit survived and eventually transformed from Lowden into Charlie Vickers. In an interview with ComicBook, Lowden mentioned that he never had a chance to meet Vickers during this transformation process.

He clarified that he had not personally encountered Charlie Vickers, as he was merely asked to take on the role. “I believe it was either one or two days,” he recalled, though he wasn’t certain. He entered, performed his part swiftly, and left without meeting anyone else. The request was for him to portray a rendition of Sauron amidst a horde of orcs, which he found an immense privilege, despite the brief nature of the role, as it allowed him to step into the world of Middle-earth.

He declared that “Lord of the Rings” is one of his all-time favorite movies, and when asked to participate, he enthusiastically agreed. Standing alongside veterans orcs who had appeared in all three films was an unforgettable experience for him. The makeup and movement of these actors were so lifelike that it felt surreal. Despite being kept apart from the rest of the cast due to secrecy, he was still astounded by the level of secrecy, to the point where he joked about being escorted to the set with a bag over his head.

In this scene from Amazon’s show, “The Rings of Power,” Lowden’s character, known as “Forodwaith Sauron,” was set in a specific location. This sequence depicted Orcs and their chief, Adar, turning against Sauron following the departure of Morgoth. A brief glimpse was given into how Sauron managed to reform his body, providing context before we encountered him during Season 1. Fans and critics alike have praised Vickers’ portrayal of Halbrand/Sauron, while Lowden effectively conveyed the character’s ambition.

At present, Lowden is actively publicizing his latest film titled “Tornado,” which made its debut on American screens on May 30th. This movie is a historical crime drama, taking place in the U.K. during the 1790s. The story revolves around a Japanese immigrant who crosses paths with a ruthless gang of criminals. In this production, Lowden portrays Little Sugar, a member of the criminal gang. You can catch “Tornado” in cinemas right now.
