A new addition to the cast has been made for the movie version of Virginia Woolf’s novel “Night and Day,” published in 1919. Included among these new cast members are Jack Whitehall, Jennifer Saunders, and Sally Phillips.
In the cast for this upcoming production, Haley Bennett will play the lead role of Katharine Hilbery, joining an impressive group that already includes stars like Timothy Spall, Lily Allen, and German sensation Elyas M’Barek.
Filming has commenced in Newcastle for the new movie, with BAFTA nominee Tina Gharavi (I Am Nasrine) at the helm from a script by Justine Waddell (Janine Jansen: Falling for Stradivari). A sneak peek of the cast, featuring Bennett, Spall, Whitehall, and Saunders, has also been released.

The story unfolds in a time when glass ceilings were solidified with concrete, featuring the character of Katharine Hilbery, played by Bennett, who defied this barrier and reached for the heavens.
According to what’s often labeled as Woolf’s most humorous work, “Night and Day” can be characterized as an ‘unconventional comedy.’ It tells the story of a devoted astronomer who goes to great lengths to steer clear of romantic entanglements and marriage.
In a modern style, the narrative unfolds around Katharine’s courageous stand against the Victorian-era patriarchy. This tale is woven amidst the suffragette struggle and rapid progress in science and technology at the turn of the 20th century.
