Following the hold-ups caused by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, it’s with great excitement that I share the news: Filming for Season 3 of Euphoria on HBO has officially commenced! Notable cast members such as Jacob Elordi are back, and as he delves into his scenes for this emotional final chapter, he expresses that it’s been an “extraordinary” and “moving” experience for him.

View Urgent ForecastJacob Elordi may have gotten famous after his Netflix role in The Kissing Booth trilogy, but Euphoria (which is streaming on a Max subscription) was where the Priscilla star truly showed off his range as an actor. Coming back to playing complex golden boy Nate Jacobs, Elordi spoke to ET about filming his scenes for the third season:
This week, I filmed my first scenes for the project. The experience was astonishing. You see, we all matured from our teenage years to adulthood on that show, so returning felt surreal. It was like going back in time; everything seemed untouched and unchanged.
It’s likely that Jacob Elordi felt a sense of nostalgia as he returned to “Euphoria” after such a long absence, as if going back to the place where his acting career truly began. With the WGA writers strike causing a year-long delay in filming the third and final season, this return must have felt like a heartwarming homecoming for him.
It’s undeniable that when we last saw the characters of Euphoria, they were teens, but their real-life actors were older. For instance, Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs, was in his early 20s by Season 2, though Nate was 18. Thankfully, Elordi won’t need to portray a teenager for the final season since discussions suggest a five-year time jump. This development would be ideal as fans have been eager to bid farewell to their beloved characters. By exploring how these actors’ lives have evolved after high school and into adulthood, it would almost symbolize the growth of the original teen cast who brought them to life.
From my perspective, the complex and dark character I portrayed in “Euphoria” as Nate Jacobs has undeniably paved the way for future roles that require a similar depth and complexity. While many may have found Nate to be a heartthrob, his on-screen persona was far from that with his troubling traits like toxic masculinity and emotional turmoil.
In the biographical film “Priscilla,” Jacob Elordi skillfully depicted the multi-faceted appeal and shadows of Elvis Presley. Similarly, in the movie “Saltburn” directed by Emerald Fennell, Elordi played a character from the upper class with hidden depths. With his upcoming Australian series, “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” it’s expected that we’ll witness the deep emotions involved in his portrayal of a WWII POW. It seems that Elordi is attracted to roles that provide him with a challenge, much like his role in “Euphoria” did.
It’s clear why Jacob Elordi found it both amazing and emotional to go back on the set of Euphoria. He’s no longer the young character he initially played, instead stepping into a time capsule as a more mature actor who has grown not only in years but also in his skills as a storyteller.
