Jai Courtney Wants To Return To James Gunn’s DCU As Captain Boomerang “If There’s Any More Mileage To Milk Out Of It”

Actor Jai Courtney, known for his role in Suicide Squad, spoke about rumors that he could appear again in the DC Comics world as Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang. He played this character first in 2016’s Suicide Squad and then again in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, which was helmed by James Gunn, a key figure at DC Studios.

During an interview with Liam Crowley from Ebaster, promoting the show “Dangerous Animals”, Courtney casually mentioned the prospect of reprising her role as Captain Boomerang or taking on a different character in DC at some point.

In our previous conversation, you brought up Boomerang. More recently, it was reported that perhaps James didn’t fully shut the door on a certain matter.

Jai Courtney: These days, it seems like one can’t say much. In hindsight, perhaps I should have kept quiet because, as a matter of fact, James hasn’t spoken to me about anything at all. So, maybe there was some sensationalism involved. However, let me clarify that all I’ve ever stated is if someone were to call, I would be ready to reprise the role again.

Ebaster: Is it only for Boomerang though, or are you open to other roles in the DC world?

Jai Courtney: Well, absolutely! I’m all ears for new ideas. Let’s chat whenever you like. The character I played was one I really cherished, and saying goodbye was tough. If there are further opportunities to revisit that role, count me in!
