Yesterday saw a significant shift in the James Bond series as Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the primary producers, handed over the rights to Amazon MGM Studios entirely. This move gives the studio full creative control over the billion-dollar spy franchise, which is adapted from Ian Fleming’s books. There has been speculation about the studio’s plans, leaving us with several potential outcomes for the future of the series, such as who might assume the role of 007 next.
Previously mentioned, Amazon MGM has tossed around various concepts regarding James Bond. One of these possibilities that surfaced towards the end of last year was a television series. However, this idea reportedly met resistance from Broccoli and Wilson. This potential show, speculated to stream on Prime Video, would mark the first time James Bond appears on TV since 1954, excluding the animated series in 1991 titled “James Bond Jr.”. It remains uncertain whether this proposed series would be a prequel or an adaptation of one of the novels such as “Goldfinger” or “For Your Eyes Only”.
Without a doubt, the most significant aspect is determining who will take on the role of James Bond in these upcoming productions. With Daniel Craig’s departure following ‘No Time to Die’, the hunt for the next 007 has seen numerous potential candidates emerge. At present, there are several strong contenders, many of whom are well-known figures in Hollywood. Among them, Aaron Taylor-Johnson from ‘Kraven the Hunter’ and Henry Cavill from ‘Man of Steel’ have been mentioned quite often. Others on the list include Josh O’Connor from ‘Challengers’, Theo James from ‘The Monkey’, Idris Elba known for ‘Knuckles’, and Harris Dickinson from ‘The King’s Man’. Despite some denying interest, Taylor-Johnson and others remain strong possibilities.
