It’s been clarified in previous statements that just because Zack Snyder announced a massive wave of projects when he and Peter Safran took charge at DC Studios, it doesn’t guarantee everything will go according to plan. While the initial lineup for the “Gods & Monsters” chapter of the new DCU appeared extensive, there seems to be another adjustment on the horizon as the Superman director has disclosed he’s working on an unannounced addition to the roster.
To date, the fresh DCU includes the animated series “Creature Commandos” and the summer’s “Superman”, both penned by Gunn. The upcoming “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is being worked on for a 2026 release, while “Peacemaker” Season 2 (another creation of Gunn) has just unveiled its first trailer. As for the future direction, it seems to be up in the air at the moment, and nothing is set until filming begins, as no project is officially confirmed before cameras start rolling.
Indeed, Gunn has affirmed that he’s currently penning his upcoming screenplay, marking it as a fresh cinematic project rather than one of the numerous ones lingering for updates at present. In response to being asked if he was developing his next film, Gunn stated…
“Pre-writing. Tooling around. I’m deep in finishing Superman and Peacemaker.”
When questioned further on whether this was a previously announced movie, Gunn simply said, “New.”
