James Gunn’s Superman Movie Trailer Recreated Entirely in LEGO

As a long-time fan of superheroes and LEGO animations, I was absolutely thrilled when I stumbled upon Trevor Carlee’s latest masterpiece – the LEGO version of the Superman teaser trailer! The seamless transitions and attention to detail make it look like a scene straight out of “The LEGO Movie.” It’s incredible how he manages to capture the essence of these trailers in such a unique and engaging way.

The initial sneak peek for director James Gunn’s upcoming Superman, marking the debut film from the freshly minted DCU, shattered records for both DC Studios and Warner Bros. The majority of viewers appear to be thrilled with the novel approach to the Steel Man, featuring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in leading roles. This enthusiasm has spilled over into the online creative community, with Trevor Carlee, renowned for transforming hit movie trailers into LEGO animations, meticulously recreating the new Superman.

On Christmas morning, Carlee shared the LEGO-made teaser trailer for Superman on YouTube. Once more, her flawless transitions left fellow fans awestruck, mirroring the quality seen in The LEGO Movie. Be sure to watch the full Superman LEGO trailer at the top of this page!

Carlee has created numerous well-known LEGO trailers and video clips for movies and TV shows, such as the LEGO adaptation of the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer that was released recently.

This new take on Superman has generated quite a buzz, given that it marks the start of the James Gunn chapter in the grand scheme of big-screen DC productions. With his work directing three Guardians of the Galaxy movies for Marvel and The Suicide Squad for DC, Gunn is now infusing his heartfelt and thrilling style into one of history’s most legendary superheroes.

David Corenswet, who appeared in ‘Twisters’, has been cast as Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan from ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ earning the role of Lois Lane. Former X-Men actor and star of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, Nicholas Hoult, has been selected to portray Lex Luthor, the malevolent antagonist.

In addition to Henry Cavill playing Superman, the cast for this production also features Skyler Gisondo portraying Clark’s friend Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce taking on The Daily Planet editor Perry White, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El (better known as Supergirl), Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders (known as Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Sean Gunn playing Maxwell Lord, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt (also known as Mister Terrific), Maria Gabriela de Faria acting as Angela Spica (The Engineer), Sara Sampan in the role of Eve Teschmacher, Anthony Carrigan portraying Rex Mason (Metamorphosis), Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Neva Howell as Martha Kent, and Pruitt Taylor Vince depicting Jonathan Kent.

It’s evident that these character names suggest they play significant roles in expanding the DC Universe. Grillo’s Flag has already made his appearance in the franchise, starring in the animated TV series “Creature Commandos”. Fillion’s Guy Gardner is well-known among DC Comic readers, ranking high alongside Hal Jordan and John Stewart as popular Green Lanterns. In HBO’s upcoming “Lanterns” series, Kyle Chandler will portray Hal Jordan, while Aaron Pierre will play John Stewart.

Milly Alcock’s standalone Supergirl movie in the DC Universe has been officially confirmed, titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” Expected release date is set for 2026, approximately one year following the premiere of Superman.

Superman hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
