As a longtime fan of EastEnders, I must say that Jamie Borthwick‘s dedication and resilience truly inspire me. Having been through the Strictly Come Dancing whirlwind before, he seems to have taken it all in stride, even with the challenging task of juggling his soap opera commitments alongside his dance training. It’s refreshing to see a star who’s been doing it all for so long and still manages to handle the pressure gracefully.
As a devoted fan of both EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing, I’m thrilled to share that I, Jamie Borthwick, won’t be stepping away from the EastEnders set even for a moment as I embark on this exciting dance journey. Instead, I’ll juggle my training with filming commitments, ensuring that both my acting and dancing skills stay sharp!
Previously, Borthwick isn’t an exception when it comes to EastEnders actors dancing on Strictly Come Dancing’s glamorous stage; Bobby Brazier participated in the show last year. This led to his temporary departure from the soap, but he returned to it earlier this year.
Fortunately, the actor who plays Jay Brown won’t have a long journey, as he’ll divide his time between two places.
“But we’re lucky [that] EastEnders [is] literally just over the road. I [don’t have] far to go.”
Expanding on his plan to divide his time between the soap opera and Strictly Come Dancing, Borthwick mentioned that he’s “allotted” for the time he won’t be available.
To be honest, I’ve grown accustomed to everything,” he mentioned. “I’ve been at it for quite some time now, and honestly, nothing makes me feel apprehensive.
It’s clear that everyone will have a crucial role to play as EastEnders prepares for its 40th anniversary festivities and the anticipated dramatic Christmas plot that is set for release towards the end of this year.
For Borthwick, some elements of Strictly may be a walk in the park, as he took part in the 2023 Christmas special – and won!
When asked about any tips he recalled from the previous year’s show, Borthwick confessed that he’s “rather forgotten most things” now.
I must admit, much has slipped my memory. Yet, despite all that’s transpired since, it feels as if just yesterday I stood here.
During our Christmas special, renowned personalities along with their partners will have a fortnight to rehearse their routines. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see how well Borthwick performs on the dance floor, given that they only get a week to prepare for each Saturday night show.
EastEnders is broadcast every weekday at 7:30 pm on BBC One, as well as available for streaming from 6 am on BBC iPlayer. Strictly Come Dancing will make its comeback to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on September 14th, 2024.
