Jamie Laing raises incredible sum for Comic Relief after gruelling ultra marathon challenge

This past week, Jamie Laing began a challenging journey of running five ultra-marathons for Comic Relief. So far, he’s collected an astounding sum through donations, with only two days left before he reaches the Red Nose Day live broadcast in Salford on Friday evening.

As I write this, Laing has successfully gathered more than half a million pounds. Consequently, Greg James is all set to join him for a run the following day, and here’s an interesting twist: he’ll be wearing a wedding dress!

Since Monday, many listeners have been eagerly following the progress of Jamie on BBC Radio 1, witnessing heartfelt moments as he reconnected with his spouse, Sophie Habboo, and close friend, Oliver Proudlock, in a series of deeply moving scenes.

On the third day, he completed it – truth be told, I didn’t believe I could make it today.” He went on to say, “At 25 kilometers, I thought I couldn’t push any further; both mentally and physically, I was completely drained. This pain is something I’ve never known before. It felt like I was running on shards of glass, and my thoughts were turning quite negative. Yet, every time I considered giving up, there was a motivator – a cheer, a donation, or something that encouraged me to keep going.

I’m deeply grateful for the assistance I’ve received and struggle to express my thanks adequately. This task has been the toughest challenge I’ve faced, and without your support, it would feel like a battle I’d fight a thousand times over.

The video montage showcased brief clips of him jogging alongside Leanne Quigley, winner of The Traitors, and Jake Brown, along with a heartfelt meeting with his spouse.
