Jan Schwieterman, Good Burger Actor, Dies at 52

Actor Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schwieterman, known for his role in “Good Burger,” passed away in February after a fight against stage 4 cancer. In the movie, Schwieterman portrayed Kurt Bozwell, the proprietor of Mondo Burger, a fast-food restaurant that was in competition with Good Burger, played by Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. According to an online obituary, Schwieterman passed away on February 28th at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. It was his brother, Chad Schwieterman, who announced the actor’s death due to cancer.

I regretfully inform you that my brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman, has sadly passed away. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer, and he left us yesterday evening,” Chad Schwieterman wrote on Facebook on March 1st. “We ask for your thoughts, prayers, and support as we go through this challenging period.

Born in Bluffton, Indiana in 1972, Jan Schwieterman latered moved to California following high school with aspirations in acting. His acting portfolio encompasses roles on the ABC drama ‘McKenna’, the NBC medical drama ‘ER’, and The WB’s ‘Felicity’. Some of his last performances were seen in ‘Warlock III: The End of Innocence’, ‘American Intellectuals’, ‘Fallen Arches’, and ‘Along the Way’. ‘Good Burger’, a movie spinoff from the Nickelodeon sketch comedy show ‘All That’, was one of his projects, eventually leading to Kenan and Kel starring in their own series.

Kenan Thompson expressed his sorrow over the passing of his Good Burger co-star on social media, posting, “I’m deeply saddened. Sending my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.

On March 4th, the Schwieterman family conducted a funeral service for Jan, and they kindly requested that any contributions be made in his memory to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He is survived by his parents LeeRoy Schwieterman and Clara Reed, as well as his sisters Megan and Vanessa, brother Chad, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
