The Duggar family is set to add another member.
It’s Jason Duggar, the twelfth-born among Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar’s nineteen kids, who has announced his engagement to Maddie Grace Jones.

On the 24th of August, Jase proposed to me, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!! This was posted on Instagram on the 30th of August, and it was also shared on Jason’s page.
The soon-to-be-wed woman, who goes by the surname Duggar on her social platforms, used the hashtag “#Spring2025” in her recent update.
Kayla Johnson, the photographer who captured the couple’s engagement moments, posted additional pictures from the proposal on her personal platform.
She expressed her congratulations to Jason and Maddie, stating that they possess a genuinely lovely relationship, which is the sweetest one she has ever encountered.
The Duggar family is growing again.
Jason Duggar, the twelfth-born among Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar’s nineteen kids, is now engaged to his girlfriend, Maddie Grace.
On a beautiful beach setting, the star of “Counting On” chose to pop the question. A romantic scene was created with a red rose and candle display, which read “Will you marry me?” right on the sand. At the heart of this setup, the 24-year-old gentleman knelt down and offered Maddie a ring.
She posted on Instagram on August 30 that Jase had proposed to her on the 24th, and she couldn’t be more thrilled!! (This version maintains the original meaning but rephrases it for easier reading.)

The duo was flooded with many heartfelt congratulations following their engagement declaration. Jason’s relative, Amy Duggar King, commented, “Best wishes, Jason!”
In late May, it was announced on Jason’s Instagram that he had taken his relationship with Maddie to an official level. He posted pictures of them hugging and strolling along the beach, though the former star of “19 Kids and Counting” chose not to reveal her name at that point.
Among the adult-aged Duggar siblings, Jason is one of the few left who hasn’t gotten engaged yet. His proposal to Maddie transpired nine days following their attendance at Jana Duggar’s wedding to Stephen Wissmann, which took place in Arkansas, the Duggars’ hometown.

Originally a pair of high school sweethearts, these couples eventually became the parents of 19 children and grandparents to more than three dozen tiny ones.
Michelle shared a memory of being rescued at 15 years old. One evening, Jim Bob was conducting house visits for his Baptist church, and following a tip from a friend who mentioned “a girl from school who had recently been saved and is a cheerleader” resided in the Ruark household, he stopped by their door.
They invited Michelle to Sunday school at their church and, Jim Bob said, he prayed to god that they could be each other’s spiritual leaders—though apparently their first meeting wasn’t as memorable for Michelle. A year later, she applied for a job at the frozen yogurt shop owned by Jim Bob’s parents. “You came to the counter where I was standing by the cash register and introduced yourself,” Michelle remembered in a letter posted on the family blog in 2017 for Jim Bob’s birthday and their 33rd wedding anniversary. “You were shy but very sweet! I really don’t remember much about that conversation, except that you finally mustered up the courage to ask me if I would go to your junior-senior banquet with you!”
She went to dinner with him at Shiloh Christian, but it wasn’t until they spent hours discussing the Bible at her parents’ house afterward that she felt their connection deepen. As Michelle puts it, “Our hearts were bonded from there.” They graduated high school in May of 1984 and got married in July; Michelle was 17 and Jim Bob was 19.
The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob previously held a position as a state legislator, representing Arkansas House of Representatives’ sixth district from 1999 to 2002. During this tenure, he served as vice-chair of the House Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. He made an unsuccessful attempt for the U.S. Senate in 2002, and another attempt in 2006 to secure the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35, but both bids fell short during the primary elections.
The realtors, him and Michelle, are actively involved in conservative matters, a part of their lifestyle that earned them both admirers and detractors, including from the reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting” (originally titled “17 Kids and Counting” when it premiered in 2008). A robocall Michelle made in 2014, urging people to vote against a proposed anti-discrimination law in Fayetteville, sparked controversy. In the call, she expressed concerns about making it legal for transgender individuals to use restrooms that align with their gender identity, which led to a Change.org petition demanding TLC cancel their show.
The city council approved the ordinance.
As a seasoned lifestyle advisor, I’d like to share that I was born on the 3rd of March in 1988, much like Josh Duggar, the eldest child from the well-known family. Similar to him, I too have found myself advocating for conservative values, lending my voice to campaigns such as those supported by the Family Research Council.
In 2015, he resigned following the emergence of old police records detailing accusations against him for molestation, which included his sisters Jessa and Jill, when he was a teenager. Later in June, Jessa defended her brother during an interview with Fox News, stating that the most severe labels being used against Josh were “exaggerated and false,” drawing criticism from many due to her status as one of the victims.

In a federal indictment filed in April 2021, Josh was charged with a count apiece of receipt and possession of child pornography. He pleaded not guilty on both counts. In 2022, Josh was found guilty on both counts, and sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison.

John-David and his sister Jana were born on Jan. 12, 1990.
Following a long period of mutual acquaintance and a swift courtship, John-David and Abbie tied the knot on November 3, 2018. Their first child, Grace Annette Duggar, was born on January 7, 2020, and they were blessed with their second child, Charlie Duggar, in September 2022.
On my 30th birthday in January 2020, my twin brother John-David shared a heartfelt message with me: “Growing up, people often asked if we had that ‘twin connection.’ You know, the sense of feeling each other’s emotions or understanding one another’s thoughts…Up until now, I’ve always denied this, but when little Gracie was born, I felt every ounce of joy you did. So, it seems like there might be something to it after all!”
Jana added, “It’s just delightful seeing you with Abbie in your parental role! You’re clearly naturals at it! The very traits that have made you a fantastic brother will undoubtedly make you an exceptional father.”
As I, Jana, watched a whopping 11 out of my 18 siblings tie the knot before I found my own happily-ever-after with Stephen Wissmann – a man whose sister, Hannah, is hitched to none other than Jeremiah, a former TLC star’s brother – I wholeheartedly believe it was all part of God’s masterful design.
In an interview with People in August 2024, just prior to her wedding, Jana shared, “I must admit I haven’t always grasped the grand scheme of things, but I trust that God has the best intentions for everyone. Therefore, I chose to wait before getting married.” She added, “Our lives would be dull if we were all identical; each of our narratives unfolds uniquely.”
Born on May 17, 1991, Jill shares a romantic tale similar to that of her parents. On Christmas Day in 2011, she crossed paths with Derick for the first time. This happened when he dropped by the Duggar residence during his church group’s caroling outing, approximately 45 minutes from where he grew up.
Jim Bob served as a matchmaker, leading to Jill and Derick forming a strong connection through emails and video calls. In November, they decided to meet in person in Nepal, where their relationship blossomed further. By February 2014, Derick proposed to Jill with her father’s approval, and they got married on June 21, 2014. They now have three sons: Israel (born April 6, 2015), Samuel (born July 8, 2017), and Frederick (born July 7, 2022).
In April 2024, Jill revealed that she experienced a miscarriage when pregnant with their first daughter, along with Derick.
The duo featured prominently on both “19 Kids and Counting” and its sequel “Counting On.” Later, Derick was dismissed from the show in 2017, following comments he made that were perceived as derogatory towards another TLC reality star, Jazzy Jennings, due to his homophobic views.
In June 2023, when the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” was released, Jill and Derick took time to ponder over the debates and faith-based viewpoints concerning Jill’s family, as depicted in the series.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa got acquainted with Ben via church back in 2013, and he initiated a traditional courtship instead of dating – a concept that was quite novel for many viewers. They were not open about their romantic lives before getting engaged, so Jim Bob clarified to People, “Courting involves getting to know one another in a group setting, with both families spending time together and the couple establishing shared goals to decide if they are suitable for marriage. Dating often involves couples going out alone, which can sometimes lead to a more intimate relationship.”
In August 2014, Ben asked for Jessa’s hand in marriage, and they got engaged. They exchanged their first touch during the proposal. Their wedding took place on November 1, 2014. When Jessa was pregnant with their first child, the show 19 Kids and Counting was taken off air. TLC aired a special about sexual abuse at this time, featuring Jill and Jessa, to educate viewers on the topic. That winter, they starred in their own show, Jill and Jessa: Counting On. Eventually, other Duggar siblings joined them in the series, which was later known as Counting On instead.
Jessa and Ben had four children: Spurgeon (born Nov. 5, 2015), Henry (born Feb. 6, 2017), Ivy Jane (born May 28, 2019), and Fern (born in July 2021). Unfortunately, Jessa experienced a miscarriage during the 2022 holiday season. However, she was blessed with her fifth child, George, in December 2023.
The sixth Duggar child was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first crossed paths while serving in community work in Laredo, Texas, back in 2016. Their relationship blossomed into courtship around that time. They tied the knot on November 5, 2016, which also happened to be their nephew Spurgeon’s birthday. As part of a large family with 19 members, it can sometimes be challenging to avoid overlapping milestones, but they did just that! However, pregnancy rumors started swirling around them shortly after their wedding.
In a year, we likely will have established ourselves, continuing our ministry right here in Laredo. Our main goal is simply to serve the Lord in whatever capacity we can. This was expressed by Jinger during a June 2017 episode of Counting On.
On July 19, 2018, their child, named Felicity, entered the world. It was in May of that same year when they announced that Jinger was expecting again, and that she had endured a miscarriage the preceding autumn. In November 2020, they welcomed another daughter, Evangeline Jo, into their family.
In a romantic atmosphere, Joseph popped the question to Kendra, whom he had met at church, following only a few short months of dating, during his sister Joy-Anna’s wedding in May 2017; and she was born on January 20, 1995.
In his conversation with People, Joseph shared that he was undeniably anxious leading up to it, yet he wasn’t worried about her refusing because she had expressed, “‘I’m merely waiting for you!'” Kendra, overjoyed and astonished, added, “I am so happy and stunned. There are countless words I want to express, but all I can say is shocked.”
Since then, they’ve added four children to their family: Garrett, who was born in June 2018, Addison born in November 2019, Brooklyn born in February 2019, and Justus who joined them in May 2023.
Eighth in line, Josiah was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
A few months after their relationship became public knowledge, they announced their engagement in March 2018. He stated that the location where he proposed to Lauren was the same spot where her parents got engaged. This property holds significant family history, making it a particularly meaningful place for Lauren.
In a video shared on their blog, Michelle, who is soon to be Lauren’s mother-in-law, expressed her affection by saying, “Lauren is truly a treasure.” Jessa and Ben added their congratulations, along with chocolate shaped like x’s and o’s. Michelle then playfully suggested, “I think you two might want to save your first kiss for your wedding day, but if you visit us, we have a sweet surprise waiting!”
In the summer of 2015, a past relationship with Marjorie Jackson ended amicably, and they chose separate paths. Reflecting to People in March 2016, Josiah shared that their time together was enjoyable. They were both attempting to discern God’s guidance on everything, but Marjorie didn’t feel it was the proper moment then, so they took a break for a while.
On June 30, 2018, they officially became husband and wife, telling People their wedding day was “simply perfect.” Their first child, Bella Milagro, was born on Nov. 8, 2019, a name meaning “miracle baby,” as the couple had previously lost a pregnancy in October 2018. They then welcomed daughter Daisy in 2022 and son Ezra in May 2023.
The ninth Duggar sibling was born Oct. 28, 1997.
She knew Austin for 15 years as a friend before he started courting her—after which they didn’t waste any time. He proposed in February 2017 and they married on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Ark. (the wedding where Joseph proposed to Kendra!). They welcomed son Gideon Martin Forsyth on Feb. 23, 2018.
In 2019, Joy-Anna suffered a pregnancy loss with a baby girl at 20 weeks along.
On Aug. 21, 2020, the couple welcomed daughter Evelyn Mae Forsyth.
The couple’s third child, son Gunner James Forsyth, was born on May 17, 2023.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s second set of twins were born on Dec. 30, 1998.
It was reported in February 2017 that Jed was interning at his dad’s old stomping grounds at the state capitol, working for the Arkansas House of Representative—and at 21 he’s on the ballot running for State Representative for District 89, committed to “putting Springdale’s conservative values first.” He married Katey Nakatsu after one year of courting in April 2021. They are parents to son Truett, born May 2022, and daughter Nora Kate, born June 2023.
Jeremiah, a qualified aviation instructor, is married to Hannah Wissmann, and together they are proud parents to Brynley, who was born in December 2022, and Brielle, who joined the family in February 2024.
Duggar child No. 12 was born on April 21, 2000.
In January 2017, according to the Daily Mail, Jim Bob assisted Jase in purchasing a $33,000 fixer-upper located in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, approximately 30 minutes from the Duggar family’s main residence. Remarkably, he even established his own construction company, all while finding time to support Jed with his political campaign.

Charmed No. 13, James arrived on July 7, 2001.
On his 19th birthday in the year 2019, his mother penned down, “He is more like a ‘fun uncle’ around here, and all the younger lads admire him and aspire to emulate him. James has an extraordinary knack for accomplishing almost anything he conceives. As a kid, we would often discover James tinkering with various household appliances. He has always been someone who enjoys disassembling things, understanding their workings, and reassembling them – sometimes with unique enhancements!”
This year, James put in a lot of effort to earn his Commercial Driver’s License, and now he’s mastered operating large trucks and heavy equipment! We’re excited to see where life takes him next!
No. 14 arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
And from the department of growing up so fast…
In September 2020, Justin made their relationship with Claire known to the public. They got engaged in November of the same year, and on February 26, 2021, they officially tied the knot.
Here with his big sister Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle’s 15th child was born May 23, 2004.
When Jackson turned sixteen on his birthday, his mother Michelle commended his wit and pointed out that she was well aware of his eagerness to obtain a driver’s license.
Duggar baby No. 16 was born Oct. 11, 2005.
On Johannah’s 15th birthday in 2020, Michelle commented, “This girl is full of life and enjoys meeting new people,” expressing her feelings. Her younger sisters idolize her as if she’s the moon itself, and I couldn’t be more thankful to God for allowing me to be her mother!
17 (or the show) first aired on August 2, 2007. At that time, ’17 Kids and Counting’ was still relatively new, and Jenni was the youngest among all the siblings.
Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Michelle penned, “Jennifer is reliable, loyal, and full of fun!” when her granddaughter turned thirteen. The nieces and nephews adore her, often clinging to her because they don’t want her to set them down! Moreover, Jennifer has a unique affection for animals and diligently cares for her pets daily. Recently, she played a significant role in nurturing a litter of seven baby bunnies!
Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.
2019 saw Jordyn-Grace being described by her mother as an extroverted young lady who effortlessly strikes up friendships, and whose laughter often lights up our day.
19 Luckily, Meredith’s aunt (referred to as Lucky No. 19), is cradling her niece, who was born on December 10, 2009 – three months before the due date and weighing merely 1 pound, 6 ounces. Despite this early arrival and low birth weight, Josie required a six-month stay in the neonatal intensive care unit. Fortunately, she is thriving well now.
