For Jason Kelce, family comes first.
Following Travis Kelce’s victory with the Kansas City Chiefs over the Buffalo Bills in the January 26 AFC game, the former Philadelphia Eagles player explained why he chose to travel to Missouri to watch his brother compete instead of cheering on his old team playing against the Washington Commanders.
During the January 29th episode of New Heights, Jason admitted that he missed the game because he had been invited to a different one. All week, he found himself torn between attending Travis’ game or staying in Philadelphia.
In a straightforward manner: The 37-year-old, who had spent 13 years as a center for the Eagles, expressed his desire to witness their victory from a fan’s standpoint. He mentioned that his wife, Kylie Kelce, an ardent Eagles supporter, had playfully teased him with an enticing offer.
Jason mentioned, ‘If you stick around Philadelphia and they triumph, you could join the throng on Broad Street.’ This, he added, was something he had always yearned to be a part of, referring to the renowned Eagles celebration held in downtown Philadelphia.
He said, “The videos you’re watching and all the excitement on Broad Street right now – the fans and the city are going absolutely wild! It’s electrifying!
On my weekend schedule, there was something more pressing that demanded my attention, and I shared this with Travis by saying, “In the end, I felt it was crucial for me to be there with you.
Absolutely, during their travels, Jason and Kylie – parents of Wyatt (5), Elliotte (3), Bennett (23 months), and another daughter yet to be born – were eager for news about the Eagles.
Jason said, “Could you pilots please provide us with update scores?” He continued, “Transmit it from the control tower.” And it was thrilling.
Jason confidently predicted an Eagles victory by the end of the third quarter, displaying his expertise as an NFL analyst by analyzing the effective plays made by his former team and praising the Commanders for their impressive season recovery.
Although I couldn’t be there to witness it personally, I managed to catch a glimpse of my teammates before the game. They were an impressive sight, completely focused and brimming with readiness to make their mark.
Apart from the Eagles alum, Travis’ girlfriend Taylor Swift also switched allegiances from her longtime fandom to the Chiefs. In fact, she’s been seen displaying her support for Travis by keeping her Chiefs-themed clothing handy instead of her Eagles T-shirt.
During my performance as part of the Eras Tour in Philadelphia in 2023, I couldn’t help but express my loyalty to the team I adore. Having been spotted wearing Eagles gear, it didn’t take much for me to declare, “Folks, let’s face it. I’m a Philly girl at heart.
