As I delve into the tumultuous tale of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor, it is clear that their relationship has been a rollercoaster ride filled with highs and lows. From the outside looking in, one can’t help but feel a sense of sadness at the demise of this long-time couple.
The legal validity of Jax Taylor’s marriage to Brittany Cartwright is being called into question by recent divorce documents.
According to TopMob News, published on October 2, the former Vanderpump Rules cast member affirmed in his response to his ex’s divorce petition that he and Brittany, their 3-year-old son Cruz’s mother, are indeed married. However, in a separate statement, he claimed that the couple had not legally tied the knot or registered as domestic partners.
In the “Statistical Details” portion of his submission, Jax noted down with a pen that their wedding took place on the 29th of June, 2019, and marked their separation date as the 26th of September, 2024 – the day he submitted his reply.
Nevertheless, it appears that the individual may have made an error when the documents requested him to state the “duration of marriage to separation.” Rather than acknowledging five years and two months, which is the accurate time span between June 29, 2019 and Sept. 26, 2024, he mistakenly wrote down four years and six months instead in the document.
It’s worth noting that the separation date Brittany provided in her divorce paperwork was January 24, 2024, and this is also when she specified the length of the separation.
In their divorce documents, it was mentioned that Brittany petitioned the court to end both parties’ entitlement to alimony. On the other hand, Jax opted for a future evaluation regarding alimony for Brittany in his submission.
Additionally, Jax (originally known as Jason Cauchi) declared their Los Angeles residence as their sole asset in court documents. He requested the court to defer the division of this property for a future determination.
TopMob News has reached out to Jax and Brittany’s reps for comment but has not heard back.
Despite the differences in their divorce filings, Jax, like his ex, asked the court to grant Brittany sole legal and physical custody of their son, Cruz. In the “Child Support” section of the form, Jax marked the “other” box, but did not offer any specifics about his support request.
Lately, Jax admitted he was taken aback by the breakup with Brittany, expressing, “It shouldn’t have caught me off guard, but it did.
On their September 6th podcast episode of ‘When Reality Hits’, Jax acknowledged that Brittany has reached her limit in their relationship, which he doesn’t blame her for at all. He finds it astounding that they managed to stay together as long as they have, and in truth, he is amazed by it.
Regarding Brittany, she shared with TopMob News that the top priority for her is effectively co-parenting with Cruz.
She emphasized, “Without a doubt, our priority will always be him. Regardless of any challenges we face, our deep affection for him ensures everything will work out. Therefore, even in the midst of disagreements between Jax and me, Cruz remains unaffected. Our relationship issues won’t cause any strain.
For everything the exes have said about their breakup, keep reading.
Prior to their wedding, Jax Taylor was unfaithful to Brittany Cartwright in 2017. This indiscretion occurred when he became involved with a previous SUR waitress named Faith Stowers.
Jax confessed during the incident on Vanderpump Rules that he wasn’t a first-timer when it came to being caught dishonest. In the past, he had spent many months denying his wrongdoings, but he acknowledged that this approach hadn’t worked well for him in the end.
However, after breaking up due to her devastation, she reconciled with him several months later, culminating in their wedding in the year 2020.
Skip ahead to February 2024, Brittany made public that she and Jax, the parents of their 2-year-old son named Cruz, had parted ways following four years of being married.
As a dedicated follower, I’d rephrase that as: “Indeed, marriages can be challenging, and this past year has been exceptionally tough for me. In light of these difficulties, Jax and I are taking some time apart. To prioritize my mental well-being, I’ve decided to move into a new residence.
Brittany remarked, “I’m dealing with things one day at a time. I can’t predict the future, but for now, my primary concern is being an excellent mother to little Cruz.
A month down the line, the strains in their relationship grew increasingly visible upon the release of the trailer for Bravo’s latest show, titled “The Valley“.
In a sneak peek on March 11, Brittany confessed, “I don’t get the sense he’s romantically interested in me, we never have intimate moments together,” and later, Jax lamented, “Being married can be really challenging at times.
Plus, costar Janet Caperna teased in the clip, “There’s a rumor about Jax cheating online.”
However, Jax slammed allegations of infidelity days after the trailer release.
He shared with TopMob News at the March 14 premiere of The Valley that there are currently minor issues in their communication. He reassured that there is no infidelity or cheating going on, only a misunderstanding. He acknowledges it might be surprising, but sometimes people simply don’t see eye-to-eye, and that’s just how life can be.
He mentioned that they cross paths daily, but the unique aspect is that they don’t share a bedroom. In essence, their living arrangements are distinct in that regard.
Contrary to the gossip, Brittany clarified that Jax’s infidelity was not the reason for their split; instead, she disclosed the accurate sequence of events leading up to their parting ways.
35-year-old shared with TopMob News on March 18 that we had a severe argument which led to me gathering my belongings and leaving. Since January 24, I’ve been residing at an Airbnb rental instead.
She mentioned that she was taking this action to preserve her mental peace, and she feels quite resolute about her choice to take some time off.
In spite of their ongoing personal issues, the separated pair found common ground: They both felt they were making decisions that were in the best interest of their two-year-old child.
Jax conveyed to TopMob that it’s undisputed he’s number one, and they both share this view. What matters most is knowing he has two devoted parents who adore him deeply, ensuring he lives an exceptional life, regardless of whether we continue our relationship or not.
Regarding the escalating conflicts, Brittany concurred, expressing her concern, “I’d rather not have that be his reality. I don’t wish for him to perceive such a lifestyle as ordinary.
Brittany admitted in March that “there’s always hope,” but she just needs Jax to put in the work.
Brittany expressed to TopMob that she believes no one will ever love Jax as deeply as she has. Throughout the years, she’s been through thick and thin with him, standing by his side through it all. If he makes some changes she’s requested, there could be a chance for them to reunite, but at the moment, she needs time to focus on herself. She feels empowered for having the courage to make decisions that are best for her, and prioritizing her mental health is crucial for her.
As a die-hard fan, I can confidently say there was one person least taken aback by Jax and Brittany’s split – none other than their ex-SUR boss, the legendary Lisa Vanderpump herself.
The former Real Housewife disclosed to TopMob that everyone anticipated their marriage wouldn’t endure. They’d comment, “This won’t last,” but the individual tended not to jump to hasty judgments.
She mentioned that she wasn’t certain about the cause, but she thought it might have been related to Jax’s poor conduct. Generally, a person’s future actions can often be predicted by their past ones.
According to their longtime friend, Scheana Shay, it’s in the best interest that things have ended between them. She believes that she merits more and should be with someone who will show her due respect.
And the couple’s The Valley costar Kristen Doute agreed with Scheana.
Kristen acknowledged being proud of Brittany for establishing boundaries to make decisions for herself. However, she expressed optimism about their situation resolution. Yet, she emphasized, it’s up to Jax, not Brittany.
In the final episode on June 4th, Brittany challenged Jax over the alleged insults he supposedly threw at her in private settings.
According to Kristen Doute, he admitted, “Aren’t I horrible to you? Aren’t I rude? Haven’t I called you fat and accused you of laziness, telling you that you won’t have any friends if we split up?
In an exclusive interview with TopMob News in June, Brittany mentioned that we had discussed the possibility of trying out our ideas with others if the situation called for it. She acknowledged that this might seem unusual or even a bit mad to many, but it was what we were inclined to do.
In July, Jax disclosed that he was planning to admit himself into a therapeutic facility for mental health care, following Brittany’s persistent pleas for him to attend therapy over the years.
The VPR alum mainly credited son Cruz as the reason he saught professional help.
In a July 31 Instagram post, Jax expressed, “Striving to improve for my dear friend,” accompanied by a heartwarming picture of him giving a sweet kiss to the little one’s cheek. “I adore you.
7 months following their split, Brittany formally ended the relationship by filing for divorce in August 2024. In court documents we’ve obtained from TopMob, she stated “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. She asked for primary legal and residential custody of their 3-year-old son Cruz, while also requesting visitation rights for Jax.
