As a passionate fan who has witnessed Jay White’s meteoric rise in the wrestling world, I can’t help but be excited about his impending return to AEW. Three months out of action might seem like a long time, but for someone as meticulous and strategic as The Switchblade, it’s just enough time to sharpen his skills even further.
Jay White is coming up on three months without competing inside the squared circle. The Switchblade last wrestled on the July 6th edition of AEW Collision, losing to “Hangman” Adam Page in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. At the time, White reigned as one-third of the AEW World Trios Champions alongside Bullet Club Gold stablemates Austin and Colten Gunn. After his match against Hangman, White was taken off of AEW television to heal up from a foot injury. The Gunns attempted to integrate Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson into their AEW World Trios Championship unit, enacting the “Freebird Rule,” but that decision was overridden by AEW management.
The Gunns and Robinsons have persisted as a trio, carrying on their activities while they wait for White’s reappearance on TV.
Latest on Jay White’s Injury Recovery and AEW Return
Bullet Club Gold’s frontman is in no rush to get back in the ring.
In a chat with ComicBook before his upcoming AEW Dynamite: Five-Year Anniversary bout against “Hangman” Adam Page, Juice Robinson shared some insights regarding the progress of Jay White in his recovery process.
Robinson commented that Jay is taking a thoughtful approach,” he said. “In this line of work, sometimes you need to slow down, improve, and return stronger. That’s exactly what Jay is doing, and we’re thrilled about it because when our quartet unites, we believe we are at our strongest, capable of defeating any team of four wrestlers. Naturally, like everyone else, we eagerly anticipate King Switch’s return.
Back in early 2022, I stepped into the vibrant world of AEW for my debut, engaging in a few scattered bouts before finding my place within a gripping weekly narrative as we geared up for the historic AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event. At that time, I proudly held the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship title. As the year unfolded, it was clear that I was preparing to bid farewell to New Japan Pro Wrestling and devote my skills fully to a western promotion. Both AEW and WWE were eager to have me on their roster, but in the end, AEW emerged victorious.
In April 2023, White officially debuted in AEW, teaming up with Robinson to establish a new faction within the Bullet Club known as Bullet Club Gold. Over the following months, they added The Gunns to their group, and by November, this quartet was at the center of AEW’s main storyline against MJF leading up to AEW Full Gear 2023. Since his first pay-per-view headliner, White has participated in the AEW Continental Classic and even won an AEW World Trios Championship title.
Tonight, I’m thrilled to be part of the action as Robinson faces off against Hangman in AEW Dynamite: Five-Year Anniversary, airing at 8 PM ET on TBS. Can’t wait to see what unfolds!
