Jeffrey Wright’s Batman Part 2 Update Isn’t What We Wanted to Hear

As a seasoned gamer who’s been through countless delays in game releases, I can’t help but feel a sense of deja vu when it comes to The Batman – Part II. It seems like we’ve been waiting for this sequel as long as I’ve waited for that elusive 100% completion trophy!

Actor Jeffrey Wright is just as eager for “The Batman – Part II” as anyone else, but it appears the production is only just getting started. In a fresh interview with Inverse this week, Wright admitted he hasn’t received a script or had a recent conversation with director Matt Reeves. Given other recent indications, this might suggest we won’t be seeing the movie for quite some time.

As a gamer enthusiast, I can’t hide my eagerness to dive back into Gotham City again, but truth be told, I’m just as in the dark about The Batman – Part II as you are. Matt and I haven’t had much chat lately, he’s been busy with his projects while I’ve been focusing on mine. Still, I can’t wait for that moment when we reunite. As Detective Jim Gordon, I’m excited to return to the role and continue the adventure! Unfortunately, I didn’t make an appearance in The Penguin, and it seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer before the franchise comes back.

Recently, DC Studios head James Gunn clarified some misinformation about the progress of “The Batman” sequel. Previously, a fan had referenced an article from September suggesting the script for Part II was completed. However, Gunn stated that this report was well-meaning but inaccurate. He assured us that they are eagerly anticipating its development.

Additionally, it was revealed during the same period that Robert Pattinson will be part of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film production. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to start shooting in mid-2025. This timeline might not provide Pattinson with much room for working on ‘The Batman – Part II’, as there seem to be no plans yet for its pre-production.

The Batman – Part II Status

According to current information, Warner Bros. has scheduled the release of The Batman – Part II on October 2, 2026, but considering the scope of such a large-scale production, time is running out to meet this target date. As a significant blockbuster, it demands careful planning and pre-production, followed by filming of elaborate action scenes involving a vast cast. Once completed, there’s the extensive post-production phase – particularly if it incorporates CGI, as is common in many superhero films.

It seems quite plausible that Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) might be meticulously concealing the truth about this upcoming production. At present, however, we remain uncertain due to lack of concrete evidence. Meanwhile, “The Batman” and “The Penguin” are currently available on Max for streaming. The sequel titled “The Batman – Part II” is officially set to premiere on October 2nd, 2026. However, some enthusiastic fans have begun to harbor their suspicions about the production.
