Jenna Bush Hager had a few thoughts about her dad’s latest viral moment.
As Donald Trump was being inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, George W. Bush’s expressive facial expressions drew significant attention online. Interestingly, it wasn’t only the virtual world that found this moment intriguing.
On the January 21st edition of Today, Jenna remarked that it was no surprise to everyone because her father had become famous due to those amusing cutaways during the previous day’s broadcast. Everyone seems captivated by his charming grin and quirky facial expressions on the internet.
As he attempted to stifle a chuckle with a mischievous smile, the ex-president – accompanied by the former First Lady, Laura Bush – was observed darting his gaze from one side to another, lifting his eyebrows and even winking. However, it’s been reported by the host of Jenna & Friends that he should not be solely blamed for his actions, which have become popular on memes.
In my professional opinion, folks, it’s not fair to lay all the blame on him alone. It seems that my father, too, may have been influenced by someone less than ideal while they were sitting together.
She went on to share some thoughts from the ex-President, Barack Obama, followed by a video of him playfully teasing about Bush’s conduct at the ceremony. “It’s fascinating to see them act so unconventionally and yet remain close friends,” she concluded after his comment.
After the event concluded, when he was questioned if he managed his behavior well, Obama replied with a modest, “Barely.
Meanwhile, during the ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda, the rest of the Bush family stayed at home. Jenna, who has children Mila (11), Poppy (9), and Hal (5) with her husband Henry Hager, watched the event there. However, she confessed that their attention was primarily on one of their own family members.
Jenna remarked, “During events like a child’s holiday concert, it’s often the case that you aren’t too interested in the overall spectacle. Instead, you find yourself solely focusing on your own child.
She continued, “Here’s a glimpse into how my family experiences an inauguration.” Then she exclaimed, “And I wonder, ‘What are the parents up to?’
After all, Jenna found that her father “goes viral for basically anything.”
“He didn’t do anything,” she quipped, “I mean, that’s what his face looks like.”
It’s possible that Jenna may have been correct in her observation, as the 43rd president found himself in another viral incident, this time at Jimmy Carter’s funeral barely a month ago. Remarkably, this event also revolved around his father’s supposed negative impact on him.
On January 9th, as he stepped into the Washington National Cathedral, Bush playfully patted Obama’s stomach and slipped past him to find his seat. This friendly gesture sparked a lot of buzz on social media, with many expressing their appreciation for the warm bond shared by the Bushes and the Obamas.
But all things considered, Jenna applauded her father for being overall, “very well behaved.”
